and waiting till then you might be abel to add to your screen funds and buy a HD
tv, be its a plasma, DLP,LCD or projector

hah guys not to brag or anything but listen to this...

I'm moving in with my girlfriend, her dad is helping us out a LOT with living costs etc. Basically I bought a samsung le32r41b about 4-5months ago when it first luanched for £950. I mostly use this for the pc linkup mode and watching media etc and some gaming.

He was going to buy us a brand new set for the living room at 1299(hes the kind of guy that buys everything from No competitor talk please and won't touch the web).
I offered to sell him mine for the living room at my cost and he said yes! (even though it will be for mine and my girlfriends use anyways).

So basically guys I get the cost I paid for the set back, and get to buy one of these beasts! still have a couple of hundred quid left over and FURTHER more still have the samsumg TV!!Jesus H christ how good is this! (sorry to gloat lmao)

If you want possibly one of the best TFTs available as a great PC screen then this is it. A HDTV isnt going to perform as a great monitor and if anything it will have restricted usage. As for the 2405 it isnt going to be as good for actual HD video sources and X360 etc as say a decent simular priced 26"-30" LCD HDTV.

Decide what matters most to yourself, actual HDTV display performance with limited monitor usage or a brillant PC monitor with much larger resolution.

My latest 40" Sony V series display is incredibly good for HDTV and console gaming if anything the best screen ive ever owned for gaming but its not going to be a great monitor even at 8ms response time because of its limited resolution. Great for entertainment and HTPC abilities but general apps and multitasking wouldnt be so good.

For games, WOW at 1900x1200 looks the dogs, much better than at 1280x720, try a big raid with everyones health/mana bars on screen, the UI space is great! Same can be said of doom3 and HL2 etc, they all look awesome. Of course you have to pay out big money to run it like that but you dont buy a 700quid monitor and run it off an FX5600 do you :D

Being an avid fan of wow and half life 2 i can't bloody wait to get my mits on this set... i feel like a kid waiting for xmas lol!

Just a small FYI for people considering hooking a console up to the 2405FPW (don't think it warrants it's own thread)...I picked up a component cable for my housemate's xbox because I wanted to test the 2405's component handling (and I'd heard of 2405's with a fault on component), and the lack of image filtering that worried many is less concerning than initially thought.

With 'video mode' switched to on and 'smooth->sharp' set to 1 (varies 1 to 5) even a 480i picture is pulled together and made look good...well, reasonably good...as good as 480i can look. With the filters off it looks gritty and sparse, with them on the textures are smoothed and the warmth returns. Worth noting you may lose these options if connecting through VGA.

Tested on PGR2 and Halo2, couldn't really fault either bearing in mind 480i. Within a few secs of gazing around trying to fault the picture I was gaming happily forgetting that I was looking for flaws.

Just curious, is the image quailty as good as it is thru a regular CRT TV? I was really thinking of getting one of these screens as a multi hub to compliment my regular 28" CRT TV...

It doesn't blur as much, so you're seeing closer to whats in the framebuffer than what you see on a vaseline-o-vision CRT TV; whether thats a good thing or not is down to personal taste.
