Gladly it's not £6k of gambling debt, as that is money gone with nothing to show for it except for the thrills that you get from the occasional big win.
At least with Centre Parks, the kids will have good memories from it. Then the rest going on catalogue shops like Argos and Littlewoods again means that you have something to show for it if you find the items useful.
Sounds to me like she needs help with money management. @Rage1999 - if you have £6k spare, would you consider bailing her loans out, then she pays the £6k back to you as and when? By doing that, it means there won't be any more interest on the loans. Interest rates are going up and now could be the right time to scrap the loans.

Some years ago my cousin was in a similar situation with a long term partner. They got married and soon after it came out that while he had been giving her money to pay the bills she had been spending it.
This went on for quite a while to the point she got them both in debt.

My partner was about 2k overdrawn when we met, she was honest about it with me, though she hadn't told her parents and it was really bothering her. She was in tears about it more than once. She's back in the black now.

OP now owes GD £6k for sound advice which resulted in two people talking like adults and setting aside bathroom plans for a short while - All because a slight overreaction over what has turned out to be a small debt and will be cleared in an agreed space of time.
