My SLK LPG Converted

0.14p a mile, not 14p a mile.

That's preposterous, even with LPG prices being roughly half petrol it works out to about 2000mpg :p

Prior to the slk I had a smart roadster 0.7l and with that I use to do a mile with 0.13p so I'm not sure how you mange that consumption with a 2.8l engine...

Indeed that does look odd - 30mpg sees me spend about £0.21 / mile at the moment (I'm guessing by 0.13p you actually mean 13p?) so i'd need to be achieving 60mpg from my 3 litre 6 to even get close to 9.5p/mile

Yeah sorry brain fart :( actually 17.9p/mile, I have no idea how I came up with that other figure.
Still, 14p/mile does seem low given nearly half fuel cost/L..

Looks like a Zavoli Zeta reducer to me /lpg nerd.

Very cheap for a fitted system - I have procured all the parts to fit mine albeit for a 250hp 4 cylinder + toroidal tank and that alone came to over £650.
I need to go back after 1000 miles for the first service, maybe the consumption will drop after that. Also i thought that changing the sparks with the ngk lpg7 will help. What do you know about that reducer any good?
It's on LPG... Hence 14p!

I've managed 9.2p for the last 20,700 miles.
The best consumption with the smart roadster was 11p per mile which is 56 mpg and that was going on motorway like a grandpa. I don't get that low consumption on my vw passat tdi 2.0l diesel.
What car do you have to pull that 9.2p/mile?

I can't see the point of this I have a 320 slk and it's pretty decent on fuel. Does 30 mpg.

Strange my dash is showing a 29.5 average mpg on the last 5k miles, higher consumption then your 320 slk.
29.5mpg = 9.6 l x 1.31petrol=12.57 pounds/100km
with the lpg you add 2l on top of the petrol 11.6x0.71=8.23 pound/100km
5000miles x 1.6= 8000km with 768l petrol x 1.31petrol=1006.08 pounds
5000miles x 1.6= 8000km with 928l lpg x 0.71lpg=658.88 pounds
347.92 save in petrol. Maximum of 13500 miles you paid the conversion.

Cant see the point in pretty much half price fuel? yours does 30mpg, how would you feel if it effectively was doing 60mpg in monetary terms?

I had my Ls400 converted a few years back, I broke even after 8 months of running. I've not had 1 single problem, same performance, same mpg...

The tank is in the spare wheel well, so I still have a full boot, and the filler is behind the petrol fuel flap so I dont have the usual nasty LPG filler cut into the body work.

I would be tempted to LPG my v8 too, but I avoided all of the discoverys out there with it as I was so warey of poor quality conversions.

What's the deal with losing your spare wheel for recovery? I'm sure someone (Rilot years ago with an rx8) was refused recovery when he had no spare wheel and a flat ... And that was with Mazda breakdown cover !!

Not sure about the spare wheel, on my smart i din't have any spare wheel, only a compressor and puncher kit. On my slk i have bigger rims 18" and my spare wheel is a 16" flat weird looking tire.

Crap breakdown recovery really! I had a flat the other week, phoned break down and they toke me home. My car doesn't come with a spare wheel from the factory though.

My second thought - doesn't seem worth it on a 200.

If you do highish mileage or tons of city driving, you recover your costs pretty quickly. Then after that its money savings galore. I wish I had converted my car years ago (when everyone on these forums were pooh poohing the idea of LPG) as I would have saved £thousands on petrol costs.

@ Jonnycoupe and Bug One
For a moment i was thinking what a troll, but after reading about your car i must admit that is a something. Again we can not compare a slk 1400kg, 18" alloy vs your hybrid car.

@CaptainRAVE
1- just took the picture after they finish ( latex gloves and white powder)i clean that when i change the sparks and wash all the car.
2- If you don't mind saving £347 on 5k miles then money are not a problem for you.
I hope to increase the mpg after the first calibration and trying not to put the foot down so hard.

154 miles 80% in town and still 14p per mile. Quite fun when i go to fill up and all the drivers start to ask me question about my car =))

And that's when its okay. Look at T&Cs of somewhere like the AA and they say if it was fitted from factory it must be present. If you have removed it then you have to pay for recovery.

And if its not factory fitted they will recover you under your membership cover.
