I got my whey yesterday and mixed some in with my readybreck :D , tasted like creamy readybreck which is great. What i wanted to ask is would heating the oats up degrade the protein?. I also put a scoop of mammoth 2500 chock flavour into the reaybreck to give it some taste and an extra 250 calories.

Actually i tried this the other day too, and was wondering the same thing as regards the heat on the whey protein. I nuke mine btw.

Also for anyone who's interested. The 30g (approx.) scoops i have with other protein tubs takes 2 deserts spoonfuls to fill, so if you work on that basis to get a 30g serving you should be ok. ;)

Hi guys,

Looking to buy some whe protein now... my routine and diet are at the stage where it warrants it so just wondering...

1) Are there any in particular people reccommend?

2) Man and unflavoured or mouse and chocolate?

3) What is the ideal amount to buy and where's the best price I can get?

Rich. :)

Whey Protein Concentrate 80 (EURO) is a popular choice.

Unflavoured and if needed use nesquik or the likes to flavour it yourself - nothing worse than ordering stuff and not liking it.

Create a myprotein account and go to the online pricematcher at the bottom of the main page. Enter www.sports-nutrition.net

10lb unflavoured for £22.93 with free P&P - a total steal in my opinion.

Use discount code MP18875 for a futher 5% off aswell ;)

You can buy nesquick out of supermarket and add that if you want chocolate.
Or blend a bannana into the shake.

Im sure theirs a post in one of the topics around here just now, with someone saying they bought chocolate and they didn't like it.

Better to be safe than sorry.

Ok done, cheers buddy. :D

Better still buy some real cocoa powder and add that. It has more antioxidants than both red wine and green tea! Also contains loads of good fats and protein aswell as being rich in magnesium and sulpuhur.

Could be classed as a superfood ;)

Could someone be so kind as to answer mine and k.Jackos question please :D . Is it OK to use this protein power with hot milk?.

Also I get instant oats from Asda which is basically ready brek, it says on the pack 80% oats and also contains 8 vitamins and iron iirc. Would this be OK to use instead of getting ultra fine oats from my protein?. I have a big bowl in the morning and mix 30g of protein in with it and 60g of mammoth 2500 chocolate flavor weight gain, it tastes just like chock ready brek :). It doesn't taste as nice cold though which is why I'm hoping its OK to heat the milk.

I have no idea about the effects of heat on the whey protein but there are quite a few cookie and pancake recipes out there with whey so guess its ok.

Then again the cooking process could leave it as useless as this post!!

:D

Someone REALLY needs to make an Official OCUK Sports Forum Whey Protein FAQ that covers:

*What it is and what uses it has, as well as different types.
*Where and what to buy.
*Guide to using it eg: how much to take and how regularly.
*Ways/methods to consume it.

Go on someone... promote yourself to resident Whey Protein expert and make the thread. You know you want to! :D

that is mostly available tho. any info you want on whey is already out there on the interweb, the rest of what you want to know: but it from myprotien.
How much to use? completely depends on the user, you should have around 1g per lb of body weight a day, however thats your normal diet consumption and any shakes.
ways to consume it, whey whey too many different wheys to consume it!

guess it just needs someone to pull some of the better information together and make a post about it (and maybe some of the other more common supplements)

lol I know it's allavailable on the web, I can Google it in no time, but it's the type of FAQ that would make this section of the forum more complete. :)

Rich....

Why don't you start a thread called Whey FAQ or something, then we all post some useful information, you edit the starting post to incorporate any info we feel is accurate and informative then a Don can sticky it and delete the unnecessary posts?

Hmm, deliciously logical. Problem is I don't really know much about it without googling... so that may hamper the thread structure/quality somewhat. I think it's always best is a FAQ is created by someone already knowledgeable on the subject. :)

They could make a supplements thread with commonly used supplements.

I've stuck to Reflex Whey Protein for the last year. Currently on choc flav but tried the mint choc chip. Not bad.
So truthfully, unflavoured must taste of something surely ?
