Do you lot take creatine on your days off or just on days that you train?
Depends what you want from it really.

Monohydrate
Weight gain & Strength - Take 5g every morning with fruit juice or something similar, any simple carbs will do. Even whey protein in water will be ok as that will cause the important insulin spike. Also take a further 5g in your PWO shake. I gain roughly 6lb-8lbs using it at these doses.

If not wanting the big jump in weight but want the strength you're probably better off using CEE than monohydrate. Though you can just take 5g PWO, I still gain a few pounds doing it this way though.

CEE
Maximum strength gains - 3g-5g everyday. Training days take 45 mins pre-workout for a better pump in gym.
As a training boost and strength gains just take on training days as already said, no need to take everyday. I only take 3g before working out as it's pretty potent stuff, I don't take it any other times.

I've been taking mono for two weeks now and I've not put on any weight. I take mine at the same times and in the same amounts as Chong does but it doesn't seem to be doing much :(

Are you drinking enough water?

Don't quote me on the exact figure but I think it's something like 1in3 or 1in4 people are non-responders to creatine mono. Nearly all these get round the problem by changing to CEE.

Won't be able to tell if I've got any strength gains from it because of the way the 5x5 loading phase works. I should've tried it a few weeks ago while I was lifting roughly the same weight each week :(

Pigeon_Killer: If you're taking in the same doses as CW then you aint loading up and this may be why you're not feeling the effects.
Try a proper loading phase for a week, then use the same does as CW for maintenance, see if it makes a difference,

When i've had a layoff, i find the first week quite uneventful, if i dont load properly. Once saturated the minimum does gives me great pumps and gains in strength and weight.

CW has plenty of experience with mono, so knows what doses are right for him. Doesn't sound like you've found your ideal levels yet, go forth and load up my friend. :)

Of course, you could be as CW said and be a non-responder, in which case your body propably makes enough creatine for supplementation to not be effective.

side note: Has anyone suffered any side effects from CEE at all?
I've take it on 3 different days and each time i've felt giddy after a workout.
Never had that with mono. It maybe just coincidence, i'm not sure...

When it's working for you you can tell. The 5x5 routine is one of the best for Creatine users as the strength gains from it come from quick short bursts, it's no good for endurance. The heavier you train, the better :)

This theory doesn't explain why people who don't respond to mono respond very well to CEE though.

I remember reading somewhere a while back that it's something to do with the creatine not being able to cross the barrier and get into the cells in the muscle. That it's too big or something like that?? Can't remember exactly and I can't find the article now. Could be talking complete pish too :o

Only side effects I've heard of from CEE is it turning peoples teeth brown due to it's acidity! I now cap mine.

Nope, if anything i feel better on CEE than mono. No bloating, no constant toilet stops and no interuptions during to the night.

Won't find out until I hit my 5rm for bench and squat next week then. I just about managed 5 reps at 165K when I set my 5rm for squats two weeks ago so next week should be a good indication if I've gained any strength from it or not.

Could I still get the strength gains from mono without the water retention or is it a guaranteed side effect for those that respond to it?

there is no need for loading phases.

another Myprotein question

Just curious what makes this stuff better in comparison to the other stuff?

I've never had any protein shakes before. I lift every other day and run in between...so I decided to start getting more protein.

So after searching through here a bit I was convinced on the myprotein stuff and I just purchased the 10lb of myprotein euro stuff along with .7 kg of creatine monohydrate...

I planned on mixing the 2 together in my shakes and adding some nesquick because I've heard it tastes like junk....also apparently carbs aid in creatine delivery.

sounds good to me, tho that creatine will last some time :p

stick what you are doing into a blender with some oats and a banana and it will taste lovely :]

oats?

...and so what makes myprotein so good?

yep oats, good source of carbs, can buy tescos value stuff 1kg for 40p or something! good cheap food!

myprotien is good because of the cheapness (in general), plus they have good forums.

chances are nothing much. Whey Protein is whey protein the only thing the differs is flavourings etc. I have tried loads but I prefer Designer Whey, rubbish name but nice taste. A lot of people like reflex but I find it to sweet.
