I've read that battery life is slightly less than that offered by the N80...

lol - i'll be swerving this phone if thats the case then!!

I hate the battery life on my N80. I also hate how slow and buggy it is too.

I totally agree. Worse phone I've ever had for battery life and crashes/freezes/bugs.

Get an N73 then, i've never loved a phone more, it's absolute quality. I think i'm going the N95 a miss for the battery life reasons, id rather have a seperate bluetooth GPS unit that lasts 12hrs than a single phone that does it all and lasts about 3 hours with everything running. :)

Doesn't it suffer from the same battery life problems though?

And the same crashes and freezes and silly bugs?

If the battery life is that bad i'll give it a miss.

What is it with Nokia lately? They release these class phones, that look amazing, feel amazing, and on paper look like the best phones on the market. But then they'll mess it all up by having really bad battery life, buggy software and who knows what else wrong with it. Are they daft or something?
The N80 is a good example, excellent on paper. But bad software. Bad battery life. And the 3MP camera was pants.
Ive got a funny feeling that the N95 will be another turkey if the battery life rumor turns out to be correct. :(

I think they do it because people still buy them, people like me who think because it's a Nokia, and it does all kinds like makes the tea for you and that, it's going to be a good phone :(

Thing is, I tried the K800 and I hated it. I tried the D900 and hated it.

Maybe I'm just too fussy. Or a Nokia fanboy :D

Not a single crash or freeze yet... the latest firmware is bullet-proof on my 3 network pone, seriously. It's orange firmware that has most of the problems with the N73... and for all the other networks the latest firmware fixed it up a treat.

Battery life is also great even after watching a movie or playing MP3's for a while... certainly no complaints there either.

I agree 100% but lets not jump the gun before its even out and bear in mind SE seem to do the same thing sadly (ie P990i)

P990i would be buggy because it's based on the same software platform than N series. Hum hum hum :D

To be honest Nokia has the most amazingly notorious record across all product ranges when it comes to brilliant hardware running really bad software. If any of you had a mispleasure of running 9850T as their On-Digital or Freeview box you know what I'm talking about. Back in a day people would often reverse engineer Nokia products and write their own OS for their hardware, DVB2000 for satellite 9200/9600 set top box series is perfect example of just that. And to be honest - hacked software on Nokia hardware created one of the most amazing products in its niche ever.
Nowadays Nokia moved to mobile products as their primary target but development philosophy upon which few million users pay to be crash testers, debuggers and wait sometimes years for manufacturer to iron out stability issues is still there...

Anecdotal evidence - one of the analysts in US office of the company I worked for years ago was well chuffed with his 6310i and decided to write to Nokia and applaud them for the feature packed phone, especially record long battery life (16 days on three continents with double size battery). He promptly received email back from Nokia with them apologizing and promising it would be "fixed" in the next software release... I think that sums it up really....

What is mobileshop.com like? reputable(ish)?

edit/ bah its for preorder.

They are a decent retailer, I haven't seen many complaints about them.

Bottom left of their site shows some awards they've won.

Late on the 21st they added the N95 to their site but had limited stock which went very quickly so now it's on pre-order, thats what they said when i rang them.

My contract is up now, I was going to go pay as go for a month or so untill this comes out. thinking about it, even when it is out on the networks, its still going to be a £100 minimum on some silly length contract.

/goes to sign up on a cheapo deal with n73.

Looks like this phone has disappeared, whats happened to it!? Zero talk from Nokia.

I called Voda 2 days ago for an upgrade and asked about N95 release, and was told its 10th April now. estimated upgrade price was 150-200 on a £25 contract.

Oh well, time to sit and wait a few more weeks.

I heard it was free on a £35 contract with VF but the phone will be heavy branded.
