If only we knew for sure the iphone would be coimg out unlocked in June (or unlockable!)
Its coming out in the US in June iirc, and here in Nov. Then in Feb, they're re-releasing it again aparentely with updated specs.
So if i wanted an iPhone, and i do, i think i'd wait for the second release of it tbh.

They're going for ludicrous prices on auction sites.....
Ive seen.
But its either £50 for the phone now, and continue on my mental tariff of £67 for the next 18months (£30 norm, +£30 for 1k texts +£7 insurance), or wait till June, get it for free, and upgrade my contract to £35 a month, 500mins&Unlimited txts. :p

I'm on the Dolphin 35 plan too. It's excellent. A life and money saver :D

I'm going to wait for decent user reports before I grab an iphone, especially now I'm so happy with the N95, I really am impressed with it.

The iphone has the capacity to be really rubbish, even though it's made by Apple. They'll get something wrong one day. I just hope it's not the iphone....

Does everyones' media pad light up properly? The backlight on my pad seems uneven, so some of the buttons are only half lit up.

Just got the phone myself and i'm eally impressed with it, the menus are quick and the phone is so much easier to use than my w950i. Only found two problems so far, the GPS (which doesn't matter as i'm hardly going to use that function, its just a nice gadget), and the Wifi is quite dodgy. It can pick up signal fine and will browse a couple of pages but when exiting the phone locks and doesn't allow me to use many of the functions.

Is anyone else having this problem?

It really is a great phone. It's the speed that impresses me most, definitely. It's rapid. And I'm 26 hours in and still not a single bug or crash.

Good news:

guys been into work and checked about 20 N95's and they all have a problem- the high pitched whine. I also spoke to nokia and they say the latest software update has a fix for it and they did acknowledge the fact that it was a problem. So hold your horses and dont waste time changing your phone because chances are youll land up with the same problem all over again

Interesting mate. Which high pitched whine though? :D

Which firmware version are you all running on I wonder?

Mine is v 10.0.018 dated 15-03-07.

Type *#0000# for those that don't know how to find out :)

Same firmware as you. My first N95 had a worse whine (its quiet but noticable when you make a call). I believe that a lot of the phones have this issue.

Howabout you when you listen to mp3's with earphones in the quiet periosd can you hear hissing? (The same for video playback)

Ah yeah, I noticed just now that whilst making a call there's an audible hiss in the background. Most annoying.....is that what the issue is?

I'm impressed with the battery life so far. I've not had to charge it yet. Still not great but streets ahead of my N80.

Yeah, very annoying. Bring on the fix :D

I hope Orange don't do the usual thing and release their firmware about 6 months after everyone else.....

I think Nokia now have 'over the air' updates - hopefully avoiding Orange:p

I really hope so :D

I think Orange still have to approve the firmware though, which is the thing that takes all of the time usually :(

Speaking of which, where on the phone is the over the air update bit, if there is one?

On my N80 it's under Device manager, but doesn't seem to be there on the N95?

Anyone know if it's possible to Sync the N95 with Lotus Notes 7.02. I only want to sync the Calendar not email.

TIA

I have not had any hissing noises when making calls. I did get a crackling sound When I first used my Jabra Bluetooth headset, but that has gone away. I guess i must be one of the lucky ones.

Got the same Firmware as well :)

That reminds me, quick question:
Assuming i got a N95, and synced it with my PC, what exactely does/can it sync?
