N95 Release

Is this your first year with 02 ? i think you can upgrade a month before so April 12th

It's my first year yeah - 18 month contract. I was originally on a £28/mo contract but upgraded recently (read: a few weeks back) to the Online 30 Texter tariff.

Edit: My last 4/5 months bills before the tariff upgrade were £60-80 per month!

Decided to bite the bullet and get one of these as an upgrade, my contract is up for renewal on May 12th.

o2 say the phone is £199 on a £25/mo tarriff and £89.99 on a £35/mo tarriff, how much do you reckon it'll be on my £30/month Online 30 Texter plan? Of course these are new contract prices rather than upgrades...

Also - how early can you generally upgrade with o2? Do I have to wait until May 12th? :(

£35 a month on orange and i got mine for £49.99 mate.

This is how you do it

Download & Install Nemesis Service Suite from http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/software.htm
Download & Install The latest Nokia Update program from http://www.nokia.com/A4176089

Connect your phone via USB in PC Suite mode and wait for Windows to install the drivers.
Open Nemesis Service Suite and click “Scan for new device” on the right-upper part of the window
Click on the icon “Phone info”
Click on “Scan”
Change the product code to whatever product code is relevant and mark the case “Enable”.
Press “Write”, and your phone’s product code will be changed (you might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of seconds, but don’t worry, the product code changed !).
Close Nemesis Service Suite and run the Nokia Software Update.
Make sure not to touch the cable or the phone while your phone is updating or else you will break it!
That’s it! When you restart your phone, it should now be the new firmware version

I just updated my orange N95 with no problems. Here is what I did -
Installed NSS, picking the virtual USB device install option.
Downloaded the latest Nokia software updater and latest PC Suite.
Connected phone via PC suite with power cable plugged in as well.
Fired up NSS and changed the product code to 0534841, following instructions that you posted.
Fired up the Software updater and it just worked.
Struggling to see much difference at the minute.
BTW is it possible to revert back to the original Orange firmware?

My phone has started crashing each time I try to connect to Web and Walk, in addition to the ever present hissing noise. I called up customer sevices and I have to send in the phone for repair - ie 2-3 weeks without the phone. They refused to replace the handset, I signed the contact on 2nd April but had 1 replacement since then and have had this handset for around 2 weeks. Is the 28 days limit on the contract itself or the handset, can anyone confirm?

Sorry to hear that mate:(, must suck. Do you not have some sort of insurance etc...where they send out a new one should your original fall to pieces??. I think the 28 day limit is on the contract tbh, dont think its on the phone itself.

Saying that i just ended up buying a sim free n95 for £300 odd quid which was a lot more cheaper than what i originally bought my first n95 for. Just couldnt resist anymore so went for it, sadly havent been able to sell the P990i but going to try again with a reduced price to see if i can get any interest in it. If not then ill just keep it as my secondary phone i guess lol.

You need to flash it with the generic firmware. Mine is on 02 and it kept restarting, now its fine. But if you do flash it, there's no going back.

Just done mine using that exact method (O2 branded previously) Worked like a charm.

At the risk of looking like an idiot (but hopefully it will help someone)...
First time I used NSS I couldn't get it working cause I wasn't putting the product code in the right place ( :o ) so just in case that is the reason anyone else is having problems, it goes here:-

I have insurance but the phone itself I am sure will be fine if fixed, and in fact it might be a network problem (I am praying!) Around £300 is a bloody nice price, how much can you sell the p990i for nowadays?

Well i wish it was a nice price, seems like the guy i bought it from doesnt have any left and doesnt know when hes getting anymore:(. Oh well will have to keep looking on ebay to see what sort of prices are being asked for the phone.

As for the P990i well im looking for about £200 with a 4gb mem stick thrown in plus a few other stuff im throwing in but seems like no one is really that interested in it tbh. So might hang on to it and keep it as a second phone but not sure at the moment.
