N96 killer ?

Have decided to get this phone, will order it Saturday at CPW.

Does anyone know if they do their web deals in store??

Just wanted to update that I am delighted with this phone. Rock solid build, battery life is amazing-still got 1 bar left after an overnight charge on Monday. Made plenty of calls, done some wifi and normal browsing, sent lots of texts...

Was going to go for the N96 after my N95 is out of contract. Now i'll have to rethink.

I've been speaking to Vodafone about this and here's what they said to me

"I have just put in a call to merchandising who have now mentioned that we have withdrawn our offer to Samsung to range the phone on account of us finding several software problems with it during our testing. Low battery life & switching on/off seem to be the cause. Of course this comes as a bit of a blow to both of us as I was quite looking forward to seeing it so I will leave this in your hands."

So CPW agreeing with Samsung to buy all their intial stocks has nothing to do with it at all...... :rolleyes:

Whats all this Samsung hate about? Love my u600 (bought two of them). Much prefer them to Nokia or Sony Ericsson.

I love the BS sales people come out with when you try and buy a phone that they don't have access to.

Just got mine

At work though so dont know if I should starting charging it or not!

What is a full charge time on these? Can I charge it for 2 hours turn it off go home and start chargeing it again or will it bugger the battery

Not had a new phone in couple of years so not sure what its like charging batterys for the firsttime these days

Also Had it on Orange not thinking of all the poo they might of put on it, does anyone know if this is the case?

I've got 7 days to return it and could then get it on o2 but I'll lose out on 5 month half price and free tinternet

Thoughts?

Where did you get that deal? online or instore?
I don't think they're branded at the moment, so no annoying software.

So had it almost a day now and i'm not sure if I'm happy with it or not, dont get me wrong the phone is great but I cant see many people developing for it like they have for thr N95 but its still early days.

Cant get rid of the orange shortcut menu either which is driving me crazy :mad:

I've also tried Tomtom, Scummvm and VGBA and none of them have worked

Not sure if I should just cancel and wait for the N96 in October or try the Omina but the only downside to that is it hasn't really got a decent SIP client which I want so I can use it with the Hipath phone system we have a work

What are other oppions?

Zaf, I have tomtom working on mine....it just doesn't use the built in GPS

I love mine. Still getting used to it from my D900. I have lots of TV on there that I am watching today on the way to rugby.

I got rid of the shortcut bar by adding my personal wallpaper and then went to "personalisation" , then "Standby mode" then you have three options.....change it to another option and viola! It should be gone!

This is the best phone out at the moment imo, it does everything! Im trying to put a video on the phone, but once its on I get no video, just sound. Its a wmv file if that helps. The phone is a Divx player so is there a way to convert wmv to divx easily?

I do get annoyed with the slight pauses as if too much is running at one time. I end up opening and closing the wrong stuff? seems to run quite slow sometimes.

Really enjoying the phone, got lots of stuff on it.

What stuff should I download for it then App wise? What is everyone else using?

I've found Route 66 a complete waste of time and there's no way i'm paying £40 for maps when Google Maps works perfectly.

The flash could be a little bit better as well.

Apart from that, little things like the slider; the lights auto detecting the conditions to switch on; the mouse pointer when browsing; The camera and video quality....

I am waiting on more apps though but once more have been made, i'm sure this will be an awesome phone.

I've also noticed that skins that were not pre-loaded with the device do not zoom in and out when changing from landscape to portrait view.. no big deal really.

LOVE IT.

Thing is about google maps you have to stay connected to the internet right? My mum n dad still ow me a little something for my birthday so going to get them to get me the maps. Is bit of a con though advertising it as a gps but charging you for the maps :mad:
