You looking forward to Eldora this week mate?

It's a more interesting prospect than another cookie cutter. Though I get the impression Kyle or Tony will jump in and dominate :p 30 trucks in a half mile mud-bowl will equal a lot of wrecks as well.

I'm stoked for it. Eldora's a great track, they've got CWTS regulars with some dirt-surface ringers entered, there's apparently some guys from the regular Truck tour signing up for late model races on dirt to practice....gonna be good :)

Makes sense. Don't forget the trucks are going to Mosport this year as well ;)

We-e-ell....that was a success :)

Not as wreck-filled as I thought. Congratulations to Austin Dillon on the win. Meanwhile Joey Logano kept up the dominance of Cup drivers in Nationwide by winning the STP 300 at Chicagoland Speedway.

Time for the Nationwide and Cup races at the Brickyard (aka Indianapolis) this weekend.

Ryan Newman snatches pole position for the Brickyard 400 by a few thousandths of a second from Jimmie Johnson. Unsurprisingly, Kyle Busch looks set to dominate the Nationwide race by starting from the top spot.

Edit: Kyle wins yet another Nationwide race. Regan Smith manages just 19th, although with Hornish running into problems he actually extended his points lead.

Edit2: Congratulations to Ryan Newman on his first win at the Brickyard. Jimmie Johnson finished second, extending his points lead to 75 over Clint Bowyer.

Once again the Nationwide race was won by a Sprint Cup regular (Brad Keselowski at Iowa). Despite not converting any of his 6 pole positions, Austin Dillon moved clear of Regan Smith in the points standings.

Meanwhile in Sprint Cup, Kasey Kahne triumphed at Pocono race 2, after a close duel with Jeff Gordon in the final laps. With 5 races left until the Chase begins, Martin Truex and Tony Stewart remain in the wild-card positions.

Next weekend both series will be at Watkins Glen.

Tony Stewart won't be driving at the Glen. Smoke was racing in a Sprint Car event in Iowa the other day, got into a crash and broke his right leg. He's had surgery, but needs another operation as well to get it all sorted. Max Papis is driving the #14 this weekend.

Ends his chase hopes for this season as well, he's going to be out a few weeks.

Papis qualified 29th, so he's got his work cut out to score good points for the owner's championship. Keselowski won the Nationwide race yesterday, and he'll likely be one of the main challengers for Ambrose (who starts from pole) in Cup.

Kyle Busch took the win after running 2nd for most of the race. Ambrose was dominating, but his team was snookered in the strategy department, leaving him in the pack. He was unable to make much progress, then got collected by Max Papis after getting sideways on track. Hendrick Motorsports had a bad day with 3 of their cars wrecking (although Jimmie Johnson managed 8th).

Nascar goes to Mid-Ohio for the first time with the Nationwide series. Cup and Trucks are at Michigan, where Austin Dillon is filling in for Tony Stewart (he has missed Nationwide qualifying as a result).

Edit: Allmendinger goes 2 for 2 in his Nationwide starts, while Joey Logano takes his first win of the Cup season.

Two wins in a row for Gibbs in Sprint Cup: Matt Kenseth at Bristol and Kyle Busch at Atlanta. Busch also scored wins in the Truck and Nationwide series at Bristol. The Truck race at Mosport saw a couple of controversial collisions on the final lap, with Chase Elliott getting into Ty Dillon at the last corner while fighting for the win; Max Papis and Mike Skeen collided behind them racing for 3rd place.

With one race (Richmond) left before the Chase for the Sprint Cup, Kasey Kahne (2 wins) and Martin Truex Jr (1 win) are the current wild card holders. Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman (1 win), Brad Keselowski and Jamie McMurray are still mathematically eligible for a Chase position.

Top ten in the points: Jimmie Johnson 837, Clint Bowyer 809, Kevin Harvick 795, Carl Edwards 795, Kyle Busch 786, Matt Kenseth 768, Dale Earnhardt Jr 750, Joey Logano 729, Greg Biffle 727, Kurt Busch 719.

Carl Edwards picked up his second win of the year (both on short tracks, Phoenix and Richmond). The bigger story is Jeff Gordon and the reigning Cup champion Brad Keselowski both missing the Chase.

Matt Kenseth (2015 points) leads the standings going into the championship battle, receiving bonus points from 5 wins. The remaining contenders: Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch (tied on 2012), Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards (tied on 2006), Joey Logano, Greg Biffle (both tied on 2003), Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Kurt Busch, Kasey Kahne, Martin Truex Jr (all on 2000 points).

The Nationwide series continues to be dominated by Cup drivers; Kevin Harvick won at Atlanta and Brad Keselowski at Richmond. With all of the Nascar touring series going to Chicagoland next weekend, multiple Sprint Cup drivers are expected to enter the lower tier events.

Nascar has seen fit to award Michael Waltrip racing with a $300,000 fine for late-race actions the team took to alter the race result.

In the Richmond race, MWR driver Clint Bowyer spun with seven laps to go to bring out a caution flag that cost Newman what appeared to be a sure victory. In the closing laps, MWR Executive Vice President/General Manager Ty Norris ordered team driver Brian Vickers to pit, so Joey Logano could advance a position in the final standings.

The move by Norris, who is also Vickers’ spotter, allowed Logano to pick up two positions in the race and end NASCAR’s regular season 10th in points, instead of 11th. And by finishing 10th, that temporarily allowed Truex to get the second wild card spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

MWR was found to have violated Section 12-4 (Actions detrimental to stock car racing). Each of the three MWR team cars was penalized with the loss of 50 championship driver and 50 championship owner points, respectively.

Those point penalties only count toward the regular-season point totals. Thus, Bowyer in effect will start the Chase with no points disadvantage. But the point total for the No. 56 car driven by Truex was reduced to 691, putting him in 17th position and eliminating him from the second wild card spot, which now goes to Stewart-Haas Racing's Ryan Newman.

Nascar indefinitely suspended Norris and put the three crew chiefs – Brian Pattie (No. 15), Scott Miller (No. 55) and Chad Johnston (No. 56) – all on probation until Dec. 31.

However, Nascar president Mike Helton stressed that the penalties were based upon the team actions as a whole, and that they were unable to prove that the spin by Clint Bowyer was deliberate.

“There's not conclusive evidence that the 15 (Bowyer) spin was intentional,” said Helton. “There's a lot of chatter, there's the video that shows a car spinning, but we didn't see anything conclusive that that was intentional."

The sidelined Tony Stewart released a statement through his team to say, “Obviously, we’re very pleased with NASCAR’s decision to provide Ryan Newman’s rightful place in this year’s Chase. NASCAR was put in a very difficult position Saturday night at Richmond, and we commend the sanctioning body for taking the time to do the necessary due diligence to ensure that the right call was made,”

I kinda feel sorry for Jeff Gordon, who still misses out on the chase, as Nascar refuse to investigate the 'ripple effect' of the incident.

His fans blame Alan Gustafson (his crew chief) for making bad calls, but I think Jeff's on-track performance just hasn't been there consistently. Crashing at Watkins Glen and losing the second Pocono race to Kasey Kahne had more of an impact on Gordon's position.
