Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe faces new charge in Iran.

Dodgy as they come, along with her husband, and now proving a whining bint, to boot. All in my inimitable opinion of course. I hope getting her back was worth it to those that decide such things. I;m sure there are a certain element who view every potentially bad news story and take great pains in deciding how the Conservatives in general, and Boris in particular could be to blame for it :)

Don't be a dual/triple national I would think is a good start to avoid this kind of thing. When she says she should have been 'home' six years ago, does she mean UK or Iran? Make up your mind and choose one nationality. If you love the UK so much then give up Iranian citizenship.

Dodgy? In what way?

If she is lamenting her lost years with her daughter, why is she wasting time whining to the media about it?

She should consider herself lucky and instead be making up for lost time with her daughter. Just enjoy life without any dramas.

It seems like you have to request to renounce your
Citizenship in Iran and they rarely grant it

Gd gonna gd. Absolute cesspit.

She was left to rot for 6 years, spent time in solitary confinement in Iran, promised she’d be released yet is somehow supposed to feel grateful for the government paying a debt they’ve owed for donkeys years because they now want some oil.

By that logic, say you miss your gas payment a couple of times, it's then obviously fine for British gas to rock up at your relatives house, bundle them into a van and keep them locked up until you pay what you owe. And that would have course be all your fault.

ergh he was being sympathetic to Nazanin's plight ? -
anyway - british gas could take you to court, and claim your goods to settle the debt - Iran didn't have the same perogative.

You need to turn your thermostat down a few thousand °C if you're managing to spend £400m on gas in a couple of months.

...
But really, it's more like not paying money you owe to a drug gang for a few months and then being all *surprised pikachu face* when they eventually kidnap your mum. And then being too cheap to pay up for six years. And then being annoyed that your mum complains you didn't pay up sooner when you eventually do pay up. And you only paid up because the other drug gangs have been caught by the police so you need to buy off the one that kidnapped your mum again.

Doesn't mean they were right to kidnap your mum, doesn't mean you're entirely a victim in this scenario either.

It seems that the US had blocked the previous attempt(s) to pay Iran. This time Britain went ahead without telling the USA of the terms of release and paid the money. Though I cannot see how they would not know. America has previously paid a large sum for the release of a hostage as well.

Although the money was owed, taking hostages seems to befit the medieval religious extremism oF the Iranian theocracy well and dual nationals are particular targets for ransom. Deemed citizens of Iran but totally expendable to a corrupt state and judiciary, both identical and connected.

There are really no comparisons to be made with normal life, Iran are beyond the pale.

She had a press conference and was asked a question. Why should she consider herself lucky?

What on earth is this nonsense?

Holy **** some of you people in here are pathetic. She is under no obligation to feel great full to a government who let her down in every way for years.
If you can’t open your eyes to that fact and would rather blame her rather than our countries poor management of the situation then you are lost.

It’s all the same people too, how predictable.
