NEARLY 2 WEEKS WAITING: Nissan GT-R is finally mine!

Hi all!

So on Saturday Battalion 35 and the Supra OC hired Santa pod for a day of drag racing.

It was dry, but so windy it was unreal. None the less, we had a great day with ~45 GTRs and ~35 Supras turning up.

Volume scale going up a notch or two. :D

Absolutely! Monday fitting and re-map to deal with the extra flow :D

Also today, getting ready for the new year.
  • 4 New tyres ordered - Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's. Upsizing from 285/30/20 and 255/35/20 to 305/30/20 and 265/35/20. The MPS4S have been bloody fantastic, but I want to try something else. Mine all have ~3mm of tread left so will probably stick these up for £100 for all 4 or something as seems like a waste to let them go for shredding when they still have quite a few road miles left in them.
  • Braided brake lines ordered ready for the new discs that go on at the service (why I've been holding off, this service includes brake lines so may as well give it a hit all in one go)
  • Surface transforms Ceramics to go on
  • Looking at the Master Brake Cylinder Stopper, to firm the pedal feel up, though will see how it feels with the braided lines first as this is a DIY part if wanted
  • Brake cooling ordered to keep the ceramics happy.
Watch this space :D

Well the new rear section went on today.

All I can say is I have such a huge grin on my face. Its literally the perfect balance between loud, without being deafening while cruising. When you push the loud pedal everyone knows it, but no cabin drone.

So today, had the Cup2's fitted.

Went from 285/30/20 and 255/35/20 MPS4S to 305/30/20 and 265/35/20 Cup2's.

Lets see how they do!

Also, on the splitter front, new one turned up, along with new skirts and rear valance... because.. why not.

So a first impressions review of the Cup2s.

Jesus these things are another level in the dry. Even in the cold, as long as its dry they just stick to the road and dont let go. I cant wait to push them in warm/hot and at pod. They really do seem to put the MPS4S to shame here.

The wet+cold is a bit less confidence inspiring, as in, the MPS4S has them licked here, have had TC kick in a few times, though it has been very soggy and cold to match, so maybe summer rain wont be too much of a problem.

So front splitter + undertray off and the temp 2015 one went on... first time got a real look at the carnage:

New splitter sprayed and ready to go, just lining it up to make sure it all looks good...

Perfectly snug, rivets in place ready...

In they go, perfect fit

Top side done.

Flip it over, bottom side perfectly lined up.

Just going to get it PPFed/Spray filmed before fitting, but otherwise ready to go!

Oi, it's been a week since Monday!

Haha! Ok.

So the problem with keeping your paintwork looking top notch leaves you with thin coatings (ceramic coatings etc) which keep it looking clean but offer no real protection against stone chips and other paintwork damaging objects. Simple fact of life of car ownership.

The only other solution widely adopted is PPF, which, depending on your eye, go from "ok" to "shocking". Even the best PPFs out there have orange peel effect, and often the application is expensive, and looks bad with visible edges etc.

For some months ive been chatting with a company called Ngenco about their paint protection product, not a wrap, no edges, no orange peel (can be detailed out if any does occur) but the best part is they can add color to it kind of like pastidip, but instead it comes out looking like factory paint.

As such im currently waiting on them to spray my new splitter with their clear protection. And they are looking at mixing up the Titanium color to match the car, effectively restoring it back to new, but without the cost of a 15k Glaucerit paint job.

Impressive looking stuff that spray on protection!

I'm considering getting just the front bumper and lights of mine done with Xpel Ultimate, just to mitigate against the worst stone chips, but it's still going to cost ~£350!

This would probably be ~£200? They have my splitter to do a clear protection right now, ill let you know how it looks once its out of the oven in a few days time.

You know whats really ****? Plastic manky coolant tanks.

As such...

The ceramics have been pushed back... again LOL at this rate i'll never get them on.

Litchfields rang up today, customer there having some work done, wanted ceramics on the car TODAY. However the only set they had in were mine, and given there is a 8 week lead time for a new set to be manufactured and sent out they couldn't do it unless I let them fit mine to his car and push it back for me.

A deal sweetener was obviously on the table and I couldn't say no. I think everyone came out that deal happy.
