Doesn’t look damaged at least.

Car was ******.

Alloys ruined, most likely rear axle damage to what degree unknown but it was a huge whack
Suspension was definitely not right after
Possibly subframe damage as well

The front wheel skipped up the kerb, the rear slammed into it full face. (I was following the car out and saw him get out of shape so held back at the lights).

....and I would have come had I known.

Are you on bookface?

Hey all!

Day down the pod with @Gibbo as it was late running and glorious weather.

A few select favorite pictures of the day:

And yes, that is some TV program being made with commentary in front of first Gibbos then my car :D

Hey all!

Down to litchfields today for... reasons :D

Just some tweaks to the mapping and such. But reminded me to post up a recent power run.

Turn up the volume :)

Hey all!

So last wash, the dreaded water spots returned.

A quick water PPM test soon confirmed:

i.php

So time to replace the old water filter resins

i.php

New stuff, direct from manufacturer rather than the 50% markup raceglaze add...

i.php

And back to how it should be :D

No water spots guaranteed

Next up, snow foaming, bug removal, and a bucket wash to get the car ready for claying.

First lot of products up for grabs if anyone wants them otherwise going in the bin, all bottles are ~half full. A clay bar unopened (megs) and a clay bar sponge thing.

I went to look at two GT-Rs the other day. A 09 and a 10. Both had rather odd spots of rust / corrosion just below the driver's side wing mirror. The dealers said it's quite a common issue. Have you had any similar problems, Kindai?

Depends on your luck of the draw if it develops or not, it is a known manufacturing defect on the doors and the boot lid joins, it is covered by Nissans 12 year warranty as long as door is still original paint. I haven't suffered from it personally, but can put you in touch with the top guy who can sort it all for you if you buy one with that issue/it develops.

Loving your attention to detail Kindai! Also glad you got your name back :p

Edit: if nobody else wants the autoglym stuff I'll take it off your hands rather than you bin it.

Which ones, SRP + EGP or UDS, they are mutually exclusive as UDS is an AIO product. :) Trust address.

Day2!

Start off with a quick hose down to remove any dust overnight, oh the joys of a water filter!

i.php

Next, wheels, trying out the Autobrite "very cherry". Have always used bilt hamber auto wheel before, however its expensive (though effective) for what it is. Very cherry comes in at 1/4 of the cost so if it works im happy.

Diluted down 5 to 1 and put in the favorite wheel sprayer....

i.php

A healthy spray given, and seems to be pulling it off ok...

i.php

Spray down (not power washed) and some residue left

i.php

A rub down of all 4 alloys, and it certainly seems to have shifted the worst of it!

i.php

Nice and shiny :D

i.php

i.php

Next up, clay mitt the entire car. Best. Thing. Ever.

i.php

Noticed the front... thing.. was not quite lined up right. Grrr

i.php

So.. fixed

i.php

Even after a wash and claying, the GTR gets so sooted up in the arse it needs something more intensive... so out comes in intensive tar remover!

i.php

Working it into the cracks

i.php

Much better

i.php

While the tar remover is out, a full go over and removing any tar and other stuff that the clay mitt didnt get.

i.php

i.php

This is what came off the car using the tar remover... now remember this is after already being washed and clayed!

i.php

Time to make sure the panels are completely clean and have no oils / residues / grease etc. 30% IPA to water solution. I know some people use it neat but from experience 30% is more than enough and doesnt run the risk of softening things you dont want softened...

i.php

What came off after IPA'ing the car... yep... Foam, wash, clay, tar remover and still more is coming off...

i.php

Unfortunately it was way too hot to do any scratch removal so took the time to touch in some of the larger stone chips.

i.php

i.php

Ooops! Little too much there....

i.php

Cant work any of the touch ins until tomorrow, likewise with the scratches.

Engine bay needs some work...

i.php

i.php

This might take a while...

i.php

Fortunately most of it is just dust rather than oil/grease, so it will brush off.

i.php

And that covers day 2....

Tomorrow will finish off and dress the engine bay, and work on flatting some of the touch ins and scratches.
