NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

Is this worth doing? I heard the local five-o have been a bit of a killjoy in recent years? I was planning on doing it but read some people got hassled for a large section of it.

We had zero problems last time, it was nothing but incredible!

All we advise if its a large group then split into mini groups, as a lot of the single track roads have passing points so a convoy of 10 or more cars can be an issue. Last year there was around 13-14 of us, a load of Mustang and a lonely me in the M3, we generally split into two/three groups, this way locals don't get upset at passing points.

But we had no problems from Police but we at the same time we were not driving like idiots where it was busy or there was people, we even got chatting with an officer and he in other words said as long as your not driving like batman they have no problem with people pressing on as generally the locals are all driving around 70-85mph on the lanes anyway as the roads are that good out there with lots of visibility of what is coming if you know how to look down a road and read it properly. Lets just say the locals definetely do not hang around, plenty of the van drivers were doing 80+ and that was in the wet. The roads are quiet with great visibility.

We thoroughly enjoyed it and is why were doing it again, though this time were changing the route and including the old military road after PH and EVO said it was one of the best roads they have ever driven in Europe, so were including that. Were also catching a boat to some island haha.

It is absolutely worth doing, some of the views are beyond incredible, you think your in Canada in some areas, you just have to do it and cross your fingers for nice weather. If you want I can ask if you can tag along, afterall they let a BMW join, or I could just say your a mate of mine and your coming in a GTR haha. I have no issue and I know my mate in the yellow one would not either, though I did get the feeling some were a touch funny about me being in a BMW, but might be more because it could leave them in a straight line, let alone corners. :D

Did it (and a load of walking & camping) early May for two weeks and hardly saw any police at all - just two bikes in a cafe and a car going counter clockwise on one of the passes.

Had a go at painting the rears as managed to find somewhere with acid green paint in a tin for £10, its a perfect match also.

As done myself with a brush the quality is obviously not upto the standard of the front brembo's but as the rear caliper is textured that finish will never happen.

Gonna see how they fair, if turn to crud over next few days or paint comes off (its VHT) then I do have a plan B and C. :D

Other than that I have the following lined up, hopefully in time for Ford Fair:
- The RED DOT on the 5.0 badges, is getting wrapped acid green, a very minor detail but one I think that finishes the acid green touches off, bar an experimental part I have on the way also
- Gloss black mirror covers to match decklid, wing etc.
- Gloss black roof wrap to match decklid, mirrors, wing etc.
- Sequential front coplus indicators from Overclockers UK
- RGB front DRL/Fog lights from Mike Scott, will be set to white / yellowacidgreen it legal honest because its yellow officer. ;)

Thats it, track day Monday.

Now I am set on Orange Fury, I love it from seeing the photos by owners, plus the MY18 looks better from every angle except the front in my opinion though the front is growing on me though I will probably do a full GT 350 styling conversion on an MY18 as they look so good and the hood, fenders and front bumper is reasonable money, obviously MY18 will be new parts and if I go MY18 and decide to convert I shall order car from Ford, buy the parts and then give them to Ford to fit/spray pre-delivery of the car as they offer to do that as service.

I know you say reasonable, but what sort of rough price are you looking at for 350 styling parts?

Ford without discount will supply everything you need to convert the car, then entire front-end works out around $8700, quite expensive but all genuine parts with perfect fitment and not too heavy as the wings, hood are aluminium I believe. However a couple of friend in the UK with Mustangs have found good fitting options which are priced as follows:

- Ikon 350 front bumper: $725 and this is made from same material as OEM so crash legal and perfect fitment. Looks spot on and genuine!
- Steel fenders: Heavier than stock, but being steel do fit great and are $499 a pair. You can get carbon, composite and all that for around $750 to save weight but they look none factory to me, I've seen them on a friends car and to be frank they look poor once your up close. Whereas the steel ones well you'd never know they were not genuine.
- 350 steel hood, again heavier, but only $599, again good fitment, but not many are choosing this simply as most don't want to rip off the Shelby, they just want to style the car as they wish. Of course carbon/frpp is available but again the fitment and panel gaps just look wrong.

But yes you can give the front-end a genuine 350 look and no one would be none the wiser on the looks, but you'd be adding a few kilos to do so by going with the steel panels. My mate has the steel fenders only and they look amazing! He is keeping his stock hood, front bumper he is undecided as his is a convertible.

My other mate is the yellow one, he has decided to ditch all of his Cervini bodykit which in fairness suited his car quite well, but he wants to do full on 350 conversion so he has ordered the whole lot I think. He also has the rear-end too which Ford will sell you the complete quad catback exhaust with new rear lower diffuser to fit which is all genuine 350 stuff and its around $3500 which includes the exhaust with quad tips. I actually dislike the 350 rear-end, prefer regular as regular looks wider, the 350 rear makes the car look a bit taller in appearance making it look slimmer.

Beauty of Mustangs is aftermarket world is one of the largest so there is plenty of options available and you can design your car exactly how you want it to look. Last weekends meet had nearly 100 Mustangs, not one single car was identical to another and every single car was modified in someway whether it was just as little as some rear light tints or a full on supercharged monster with bodykit etc.

If I was to keep my current car the GT 350 fenders and front bumper would tempt me, they look awesome and so aggressive, but I'd keep my hood and rear as it is, maybe just add red tints. Of course as on MY18 the front-end is a huge discussion point, some liking the more aggressive design, others not liking it for looking droppy means the after market on hoods, bumpers, fenders will no doubt be bigger and already companies have released some mockups of MY18 front re-designs. I am on the fence, never judge a car until you see it in the flesh!

Can you de-chrome the windows ?

Yes, its a long going consideration of mine and easy to do, just a wrap. At times I want the chrome gone and the rear lights to be red, but then at other times I like the clear lights and the chrome.

However with the green calipers, darker wheels the car has gone more from a classy Aston style look to more of a meaner look at which point a bit less chrome would probably suit it better.

I am at my local wrapper next week, he is changing my red dots to acid green and I will maybe get him to do a black roof wrap, de-chrome and red rear tints whilst there. :D
