Probably, but then they may as well have just bought another Mondeo or V70. These are special :D

Someone put the request in and someone approved it. I love that person. "You want a Mustang for the fleet..? Yeah OK sure, but only if I get to drive it!"
 
Its not an unreasonable perception that someone requests certain things and someone else approves it, its how things work with the industry I work in, I just assumed similar processes went on elsewhere...

Your explanation that Ford are giving them to the Police so that they drive it around as a rolling advertisement could be just as much carp as mine. :p
 
I'm afraid it's not: it happens every year with various cars - I seem to remember they did it with an Ariel Atom recently.

The cars are generally not used for actual police work, but appear at shows and promotional events.
 
A Mustang isnt an Atom though, surely it would be a fairly decent car to have going around marked up? I bet they don't cost any more than a brand new V70 T6 or whatever else they are likely to use as a traffic car. :)

No, it'd be much less useful than something like a V70 (Or 530d, another very common traffic car). You can't sit people in the back easily for a start, which is a fairly key requirement for a traffic car!

It's a 2 door car :p

Definitely couldn't be used for normal police duties.

Yeah my wife doesn't want me to get one for that exact reason. They're just not special at all to people over here. Even the old couple across the road from me have one!

A Roush one went past the other day, it sounded like nothing I've heard before, it made the GT sound like an ecoboost.

It's won't be used day to day.

Manufacturers throw cars at forces for pennies, the deals given on Audis and BMWs are crazy. It's why forces can use 'premium' brands.
