NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

He's right though. More practical, less fuel wastage, 5 doors, I imagine just as quick (?), better handling.

Literally makes no sense. The police would be a million times better off using Focus RS' instead...

The RS would be the thinking choice.

But its clear its a PR stunt and the Mustang has way way more history and world wide following than a Focus, lol.

Not really hard to grasp, Mustang one of the most iconic cars in the world, Focus is just that a Focus, no one cares no matter how great the RS version is. :)

The police are mistaken if they think I care what PR stunts they're getting up to! :p

I'd rather they didn't waste their funding on unsuitable vehicles though!

And yet it is being reviewed by forces for actual use as an interceptor car with a plain car being trialled currently.

The link was posted to a Mustang forum by the MD of Ford UK.

Manufacturers send demo models of various cars around to forces all the time, it really doesn't mean anything and realistically, the chances of a Mustang ever being used by police are miniscule. An unmarked one wouldn't exactly be inconspicuous anyway.

There were full liveried up Escort RS Cosworths kicking around some forces many many years ago (20 or so) complete with Whale Tail :D

In 1982 there were tons of pursuit mustangs roaming the freeways of the US. Only real difference to the public cars was the addition of an electric truck release. My buddy still has one of them.

It's the same with bikes. I saw a fully marked up Police Ducati 1299 Panigale last week - also not as practical as the BMW R1200RT, but gets people talking!

Question for the owners. Ford have told my father he has to go to Ipswich to pick his up. Has everyone had to do this or are they taking the mickey?

Depends where he is ordering from. Whilst some people have ordered from local dealers, only FordStore branded dealers can actually order them. If your dealer isn't a FordStore then they will have to order through one in the chain anyway. As such they may want you to collect from there. Some owners have however collected from their local who ordered through a FordStore so it is possible and the dealer is probably just being lazy.
