NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

Whipple to is proper bolt on kit, easiest fit and reversible, you also buy Whipple over others because:
- whine
- Whipple tune is written by Ford engineers and proven safe with stock drive ability
- software to do boost by gear
- more power with less boost

Only downside is it cost more but if your spending 6k you might as well buy the better kit and cough up another 1-2k to have best and with Whipple you can go to around 1000 horses but stage 2 is most for many, it's safe, easy and 750ish with 600lb/ft is more than enough.

the roush, when bought through a ford performance dealer, gets a warranty... if I was thinking of waiting 3 years and then installing a supercharger then that would be a good route, but as I'm thinking of having it done within the first 12 months I would go the Ford Performance route - 670hp would be plenty for me, the extra 50hp to lose your warranty isn't worth it for me

Double check and get it in writing from your dealer because last known situation was Roush would not offer UK tunes for their kits. Of course hopefully that might have changed. But do check with Ford UK that they are officially offering such packages and if your warranty will still remain intact. As obviously warranty work is authorised by Ford, not the dealership.

Would be totally awesome if Ford UK can start offering the Roush kits pre-installed at dealership or even supercharged varients in the UK.

The value would be incredible at under 45k for near 700BHP, for a brand new car with full warranty. :D :D :D

Yep. Have got emails in with the two Ford Perfomance listed dealers to check whats on the website is valid. If not I'll wait as long as my impatience lets me before just burning the warranty and getting the whipple.

Which site are you looking at?

The ford performance one. It just says "if fitted by an approved dealer" and then when you click on "approved dealers" it lists power torque and real steel in the UK and the power torque website says they are a ford approved fitter. They replied with pricing already but by the time I replied to ask about warranty it was late on friday.

Its not a massive problem if not. I've basically never not modded my cars except the audi S6 i just got rid of and never had any problems. Just if it can be done and still keep a bit of engine/gearbox warranty then all the better.

Still no idea which site your talking about, post the link please. :)

US site, so completely irrelevent sorry.

Speak to your dealership and get it in writing from the dealership manager. Also try emailing Andy Barrett MD of Ford UK and he knows the answers.

But in short right now I believe any fitting of US Ford approved engine tuning parts in the UK still invalidates warranty, check with Ford UK Mustang guys like Andy Barrett.

Yeah, its not with Ford, although Ford "approved" the Ford Performance parts do invalidate your Ford warranty, but they come with a separate policy that pays out, like an insurance policy... although looking, the whipples also say "drivetrain warranty available", so I have emails in with both to see what the deal is / how much it costs / if it applies to UK supplied parts

no point talking to Andy Barrett as yes he will just say Ford Performance parts invalidate your Ford warranty - but that is the same as it says on the Ford Performance US website

It could well be the case that it doesnt apply to the UK, but they got my hopes up by including 2 of their UK dealers in the approved list when you click on the warranty link - Ford Performance dealers that is, not Ford car dealers

Let us know how you go on but I can see as US insurance warranty not paying out when push comes the shove. My stance is if I break it my own wallet pays. :)

Yep, totally prepared for that - will just make sure i give it a full 12 month shakedown before the blower goes on. If i can get drivetrain warranty then it can go on as soon as I can hide it from the missus.

Dont even know what clutch to get with it yet.

H-pipe will be getting ordered as soon as I get a confirmed delivery date and just looking through your suspension mods on what to get for pretty much day one by the sounds of things.

I was wondering why you went with steeda diff bushings over BMR, but then read on M6G that people were saying the BMR bushings result in cabin noise when paired with the cradle kit.

I hate NVH as the Americans call it so I improved the car whilst keeping added NVH to an absolute minimum.

with the gearbox bushing insert and shifter bushing - did you try them one at a time or both at the same time? I see you took out the gearbox bushing, just wondering if you tried them one at a time to see if it was the combo that caused problems and which one firmed up the shifts the best?

edit; that was worded poorly, obviously you tried the shifter bushing on its own, did you also try the transmission bushing on its own?

Yes one at a time.

The transmission bracket, added no noise and helped stopped binding at high rpm, for like $75 great buy.

The bushing I found horrible, some like it because it gives that race car feel due to the buzz/vibration/harmonics it creates. I found it gave me a headache, I literally had it out within 48 hours I think and the car was instantly better. I even tried drilling a large 1" hole in the centre of it, but it was still too much for me.

In fairness this car has a lovely gear change, notchy in a good way, so its not really an issue on the car, but the transmission mount makes changing gear a little nicer, but certainly not night and day.

Thanks

You've got yours lowered about an inch? Any problems with road humps?

edit;
I got a reply from PowerTorque regarding the FP supercharger - "The supercharger kit currently has not been certified as emissions legal in Europe.
It is something we are working on. We don't have a time frame but if it is approved then we will be extending the warranty program to include our approved dealers in Europe."

They've got the best part of 2 years to get it sorted before I buy the whipple!

Hi there

So Friday I drove back from Bedford, car was fine, parked up, check oil on Sunday, no use, coolant on max no used. Dropped car off with wheel refurbishment company on Monday to have new tyres and wheel colour changed as most of you know I am not fond of the stock silver colour. So went with a sparkle dark silver whilst I wait for my FS02 wheels in brushed in arrive, due end of August.

Wheel company call me today, car is ready to collect, OK I respond I shall come in a few hours. They call me an hour later to say when they moved my car they noticed a pool of oil, so they looked underneath the car and noticed subframe covered in oil.

So instantly I am thinking what have these idiots done to my car, no oil leaks on my drive, never used a drop. Anyway I stay calm and go to collect the car and they show me the oil and yet car is covered in oil. I check the level and it is just over minimum its lost nearly 1l, I check mileage and it seems they have not driven the car, I check engine and no holes in it leaks from up top. So thankfully I have the 1l Castrol 5W-20 green stuff in the boot, I throw it in and back on max.

Starts up fine sounds fine so I risk driving it to Ford as thankfully only 1-2 mile down the road and engine is cold, so I set up keeping revs under 1500rpm. I get there and as parking I can smell oil, shut off, get out and I can see oil dripping fast from the car. Re-check level it has used just shy of half a litre in that short distance.

Ford rush the car on the ramp and stop other jobs there and then. Check level and say OK its above minimum but not on max, they start up for a few seconds and its coming out again, so shut off. Also notice coolant dropping too and mayo forming in the tank and water is coming from under the car.

So it looks like oil cooler, get a tiny mirror and yep a pin size hole in the oil cooler that has water and oil seeping fast from it, they say not to worry as the oil in the engine is not mixing and is normal for water and oil to come from oil cooler blah blah.

They say there is nothing the wheel shop could have done to cause this because the oil cooler is shielded so it must have being defective from factory with a weak spot and to be really thankful they spotted it otherwise the first sign I would have got would be engine low pressure warning or level at which point damage could have possibly being causes but as the oil level has not gone below minimum so still over 7l oil in there no damage.

They will change oil cooler, change oil and filter and do a coolant flush and change. The bad news no idea on leadtime for oil cooler and they never done even an oil change on a Mustang yet let alone such warranty work.

So left it with them, they are going to fix and do the other warranty work such as scratched glass, paint defects and broken puddle lamp whilst with them, but it could take a week or a month, no one knows right now. :(

So real bad luck but purely coincidence and not caused by wheel fitters as no damage to parts surround the oil cooler so not like they took it out amd crashed or hit something and no way a stone could flick up and hit the cooler as it is surrounded and protected by trays.

I have NC500 July 21st so now might not be able to attend in the Mustang to a Mustang NC500 event, will have to go in the BMW and I can see some people objecting to that but hey, a car is a car, four wheels and a steering wheel, so what does badge matter, about having a good time. But seriously I'd far rather do NC500 in a nice comfy GT with all the toys rather than a stripped out M3 with no toys. :(

Anyway on a positive note I far prefer my new wheel colour:

Shame I can't enjoy the MPSS I just fitted all round and yes did all four in the end due to worrying about time running out due to NC500, so 1k on wheels and tyres and cannot even drive it. :(
