Need for Speed Carbon

I completed this in about 6 hours (career mode) . Shame really because I was quite enjoying it.

I went The tuner route and found that they are a lot better to race with then the other classes.

Apologies for the necroposting but I don't think it merits a separate thread.

I've just finished the Career mode (yet to play the Challenge series) but it was all stupidly easy with the exception of Race Wars 3 which appeared to be harder than fisting a velociraptor*. I can't figure out why this should be so, there were no more upgrades I could do at that point but as soon as I moved onto Tier 3 (and a Lamborghini Murcielago) I won every race with nary more than one restart in sight.

The other things that really irritate about this game are that you can't skip cutscenes, the fact that they reintroduced 'prat-cams'(see Carmageddon) which wouldn't be terrible but appear to have given no way to switch them or the team mates voices off, the fact that you had to have an AI teammate for so many races - who frequently not only doesn't help but actually hinders by getting in the way and the fact that you can't skip the credits for the game production either. Oh and finally the fact that the cars are all (with a couple of exceptions) exactly the same as the ones in NFS:MW.

Aside from those problems I quite enjoyed the game but it all adds up to a slightly frustrating experience.

*nb I have no idea why you would want to perform this presumably delicate operation but Carmageddon used it in the best named difficulty settings of all time and if it is good enough for them .......

I honestly thought Carbon sucked, Most Wanted wasnt all that much better but I so wish they would bring back the Underground series... God they where such a better game!! :)

Got it on 360 but I guess its all the same...

Beat Darius last night using a Carrera GT. Found out after a few goes my SL65 AMG was'nt good enough round the corners. The Carrera GT was such an improvement.

Where can I get the Audi LM Quattro from? Cant seem to see it anywhere. Im 87% done. Got some drift races and other little ones to do to complete all the races in career mode.

Played it for a few days and I like it. However, I do miss the drag races :(

You can't play it in Career mode but you should be able to add it to "Your Cars" in the Quick Race mode I beleive, if it is anything like the BMW M3 in Most Wanted it won't be as good as the cars you already have anyway. :)

Good point on the Drag races, I used to enjoy them but they were also the most frustrating part of the game without pressure sensitive controls, that plus the fact they appeared to rely a fair bit on luck as to the position of the other cars.

You (well i did) unlocked it when you complete, but as ^^ said you can only use it for quick races.

I really enjoyed the drag races, trying to get the best gear changes, made all the difference, needed good timing.

Ah, ok that solves that then. I'l check if I can add it in 'My Cars' on the main menu later on. Want to see if its better than the Carrera GT Ive got now.

Anyone else find the Chevvy Corvette is clearly the best car in the entire game?

I did i did lol :D completed most of the game with it lol, far better imo than any of the other cars, i sold it at one point for the lambo :o big mistake took me hours to earn money to get the chevy back to how i had it before lol

Currently driving the Merc SL65 AMG, but after defeating the first three bosses I'm finding the races in Silverton a bit difficult, and even defending races in Fortuna seem an absolute mission, the car seems to be slowing down, or is this just the game increasing the difficulty of opponents?

Also how/when do Tier 3 cars become available, as well as the rest of the Tier1/2 cars? Only seem to have about 8 or so cars available to me atm

Can I get a thread resurrection? ;)

Just looking at this game. I've borrowed it off a friend on the PSP, and i've been playing it on that a lot. I'm at about the fifth or sixth area now, and i'm really enjoying it. However, the ghosting in this game on the PSP is just plain awful, it's at the point now where it's borderline unplayable.

I was thinking of picking this up for the PC, as i've had NFSU (loved it), NFSU2 (the best one IMO), and NFS:MW on this platform. However, I absolutely HATED NFS:MW with a passion. I didn't like the whole involvement with the cops, the way you had to bait them to progress, etc. and how when your heat gets too bad you have to change all the visuals on the car you've just spent 3 hours perfecting!

Given how much I hated MW, is it a good idea for me to pick up Carbon? I've tried the demo but it's hard to tell if i'd like the real thing or not, as how much can you really tell from just a few races?

I'd say it was closer to NFS:MW than either of the Undergrounds with the car customisation and handling, however it doesn't seem quite as strongly focused on the whole police aspect. Rather than change the visuals I just change cars normally because I find it easier and less dull - you only need to get a couple of pink slips and that sorts you out.

I did like Carbon but it still has numerous cut-scenes you can't skip and it is definitely an evolution rather than revolution. Worth getting if cheap I'd say. :)

//edit I don't know if the Koenigsegg CCX exists in the game other than perhaps as an add-on, I've also completed the game and I don't have it.

Ive heard you get extra cars in the collectors edition  Maybe its avaliable in that. If you look in the manual you get with the game it says all the cars manufactures at the back and one of them says "KoenigseggTM" so it must be featured in the game.

So you prefer MW?

And that's the thing - my style is to have one car, which I love and plough all my money into. I don't like having multiple cars which I have to change between.

Not sure really, it has been ages since I've played MW or the Undergrounds so I find it difficult to say which I preferred but the whole franchise has just seemed like it lacked something to make it great. All the games are competent enough but there just isn't a spark of brilliance, they are enjoyable but EA hasn't taken any risks really which could have improved the game.

I do tend to only drive one car until I'm nearly finished the game but I like to have multiple cars available so I can swap between them if I need to because it means I can test my skills on cars with different handling.
