Need for Speed Carbon

Hey guys, i got the collectors edition of the game from somewhere i cant mention (lol) and im really enjoying it but.........(theres always a but) it seems to keep crashing randomly on me, so i came here and it seems im not the only one. Which i suppose is a good thing since its not my rig put a poor show on EAs part. Has anyone managed to sort a workaround? For your intrests and comparison im running a 4200+ dual core, 2GB Geil Ultra Platinum, and 2xBFG 7800 GTs and im running the game at 1280x1024 on maximum settings. :confused:

Welcome to the forums, I'd suggest reading the rules about mentioning competitors ;)

No work around that I know of, suppose we will just have to wait for a patch.

I thought need for speed most wanted was the best game , it lasted longer than carbon did and was harder to complete in my eyes and EA need to fix that problem were the game keeps shutting down for no reason, it is annoying i had to complete last boss three times cause it kept rfestarting.

Goes to play most wanted amnd starts new career :p
 
Hmmm hot pursuit 2 was great,it had the M5 and mclaren.

Underground.That was good but it got boring since it was just race,race and more race.

Underground 2. That was great becuase of the free roam and each seperate carshop and the mixture of roads you could drive on.

Most wanted. I cant actually remember it all that good but it was just like an HDR'd to **** underground 2 with some nice cars and a story.

Carbon seems good and i like the canyon runs,drfits are bit homogay but a bit of practise and you can dominate i.e go as fast as possible and you seem to win. Handling wise it feels better than most wanted but maybe not as good as(note not as fake) as underground 2.
 
Well I'm enjoying the game but it seems ropey compared to the older ones. I've just taken over the first 3 areas and have an SL65AMG

The map feels small with few races.
The races so far are too easy
There are less things change on your car - no neons, ice etc. Even things like the bonnet don't open/shut when you add parts.
The autosculpt doesn't seem that good, only working on some bumpers and not so nice wheels.
My crew members are either stupidly over the top fast or wreck races by crashing into you!
I've got to much heat so that ruins the cruising the city as it turns into a half an hour chase all the time!
Not being able to unlock some cars as they are in a different class sucks!

That said it is a fun game
 
I played up to 65% completion without doing a single mod on my car - I think 'normal' difficulty definitely isn't too taxing until you get to a certain point.

Apart from the racing, I've noticed that the cops don't seem quite so effective at busting me as in NFS:MW. Don't think I've even seen a spikestrip yet.

Not too sure on this Canyon races yet. Seem a bit too easy to exploit, e.g. when chasing you can just burn past them with nitro, leave them for dead and automatically win without having to do the second stage. And, if you do have to do the second stage, the fact that you get +5000 pts for every collision means you can simply resort to roughhouse tactics should your opponent get too close.
 
You can't use nitro in canyon chases.
5000 points for collision isn't good enough considering your opponent makes that many points after less than five seconds of close trailing.
 
Ah you're right, you don't get nitro. I think it just felt that way because i'd just done my first ever upgrades and I blew right past the boss and he couldn't catch me :)

5000pts may not last you long, but bash them enough times and it certainly diminishes the points loss you would normally be getting from having the guy so far up your arse.
 
Typical reason I hate Most Wanted - this evening, 'mission' go past 6 road blocks and then evade the police..

Managed 10 or more before I met my doom and got s******** stuck with loads of damn cop cars after doing what was needed for the mission, I now I have to waste another 10 minutes doing the same mission again and hoping I wont have the same problem...

God its frustrating with about 15 or 20 cop cars around you... ugh....

I find that when I play the brutal card on the second leg of a canyon race I tend to lose, often miserably.

Best option for me is to zoom ahead, it is far easier to make good speeds on the way down if you are in front with a clear road.
 
when does the Subaru Impreza become available for buying??

anyone know?? ive got me a skyline atm :cool: used a Dodge charger for ages after winning it off Angie... its handling was crap lol, i chose to use it because it was insanely fast... but handling was crap lol

this game is really ******* me off now.

am on final boss race and game has crashed 6 times in between races or after I've beaten him :mad:
 
I am actually loving the game...

I am only 17% of the way through i think, literally got it 2 hours ago installed. I am currently about to do my first "duel" vs a "boss". But it is seeming rather hard atm !

Might do a few more races first for slight tweaks as im in the crappy Alpha Romeo still :<

Ah well, im going to be playing this hardcore for a while !
 
Completed the storyline the other day, shan't give any spoilers but it's kinda disappointing, I was expecting some more races or something special after that, but it just rolls the credits. Only at 85% completion or so I'll polish off the rest of the races sometime and also get stuck into the Challenge mode a bit more.

I'd strongly recommend any new comers to this game start the game on hard difficulty. I always play games on medium and this is definitely the easiest of the NFS series so far.

Checkpoints - no challenge at all (weren't in MW either, to be fair)

Drift - not losing points when you hit a wall makes these a breeze. Driving fast is a lot less risky now

Race Wars - one of the few taxing race types, I struggled using an outdated car sometimes

Sprint/Circuit - fairly routine... having a teammate helps a bit

Canyon Duel - Aside from Darius I don't think I needed more than two attemps for any of these

Speedtrap - can sometimes be tough for no apparent reason, I think it's quite easy to manipulate teammates here though once you learn the ropes

The cops also pose less of a challenge than MW in my experience (I was busted twice, compared to at least two dozens times in MW).

Cash is easy to comeby as you rarely need to upgrade and I went RX8->RX7->Mclaren SLR. The RX8 was fine at stock, the RX7 I performance modded once when it was starting to show it's weaknesses, and the SLR I performance modded when I bought it. Didn't even look at any of the visual mods because the cops don't pose a threat as I said before.

Rather happy about that, leaving it on stock atm at has most full upgrades i just cant tweak them.

Not sure if it is better than the Romeo atm though, but i am using it to unlock some more mods for the time being :D
 
just got the game setup tonight and agreed needs to be done on hard setting otherwise its way too easy
also used the widescreen setup to get 1440x900 with everything else flat out on my X1900GT and it Rox :D
dissapointed theres not much manipulation in the axes settings for controllers, methinks a G25 is needed ;)

I won the DB9 but to be honest after using it for a couple of races I went back to my RX-7. It's got more straight line speed but it corners poorly which is essential in Carbon due to the Canyon races.
