Need for Speed Carbon

i've also had a few freezes when exiting the game but it seems to *eventually* exit if I leave it alone. Only noticed as I saw it had froze, so went to make coffee, and came back and there was my desktop.

Just a thought for you..

and also may be worth trying to hit windows key when it looks like its froze and closing the task bar shortcut, right clicky style. This has also worked

As for the game, I likes it. Quite possibly wouldn't be able to tell this game from the others graphically, but that aint a bad thing really. Apart from the picture in picture parts. But why no drag races!! And no daylight!!

Chow

I have had a few freezes and crashes. Odd time game can crash to the desktop in split second. Other times on exit of the game it can just lock up, Task manager can be used a lot of the times. Knowing EA a patch will probably be soon to follow.

What kind of settings can I expect to set with my system:

P3.2 @ 3.5, 2gb Corsair ram, Gainward 7800GS+

I know that I cannot set it to "maximum" quality, as I tried that earlier and it seems to go a bit slower at that level.

Not sure what type of system you would need to get the maximum quality for this kind of game!?

I would have thought you'd be able to run it at max but clearly not!

As for the system you need to run it at max, I don't think you need anything too hefty just an upgrade from the 7800! :)
Mine runs it maxed out at 1280 * 1024 but a decent spec doesnt make the game crash less... Rawr!

using an x1900xt here oc'd with 6.9's, I have 30+ fps always @ 1680x1050 reso full eye candy, so somethings defo wrong, tried a reinstall?

how do you run that res? I have a 16:10 20" monitor that runs 1680 native but the game does not support it. I'm guess you use an .ini hack?

Sumit is up with the game or my drivers, if I set it to run full hdr (visual treatment) att’s fps counter indicates a 15fps increase. also get audio stutter to.

Do this to fix Carbon for widescreen...

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php?title=Downloads
1.Download the program called Universal Widescreen (UniWS) Patcher
2. Go into your Need for Speed Carbon directory and name the exe file speed2.exe
3. Open up the program you just downloaded and select Need for Speed Underground 2 from its game menu
4. Enter the resolution you want in the program
5. Locate the directory for Carbon in the program and click "Patch"
6. Launch Carbon and select the 640x480 resolution
7. Finished!

Notice: Make sure to backup the original Carbon exe for updating your game later with official patches!

It works...I used it successfully!

In this game has anyone else found that the reward cards are bugged or something? All the ones that involve u to be in "Career Freeroam" like make a certain bounty level or cause so and so damage to the state.. I've gone to career freeroam with my car at level1 heat, got to level5 heat, caused well over 200,000dmg to the state and disabled numerous police cars all in 1 chase, but it doesn't unlock the reward cards? Im puzzled?

Did you evade the cops afterwards or get busted? it only works if you evade after causing the damage :)

I am running Amd x2 3800+, 2Gb corsair XMS and 7800Gt 256mb, And the game runs excellent on Top settings

Must be something wrong here, running on an X2 3800 at 2.7Ghz, 1Gb of mem and an Xt1800 XT PE 512mb and it chuggs badly on full settings.

Is this some sort of bug?

I got a new car (Mustang) and sold my old one (That muscle car).

Now I got no performance upgrade ? but I had em on my other car?

no you unlocked upgrades for your old car, you have to unlock new ones for the new car

Damn how would i have to do that? The other cars are too fast :|

I found I was stuck like that for a race or two, seemed like everyone was faster than me, just use a decent crew member they CAN be helpful :p (when they aint making you crash)

Maybe because I have such an aged system now might be the reason why its not working at maximum quality with all the bells & whistles on, as it were. I bought that chip with the system about 3 years ago now, it just got released when I bought it. I have obviously upgraded several areas of the system between then & now, but with all the system that I would need to upgrade, it might work out cheaper buying a new system?

Hi all,

Does anybody else have an annoying steering problem with this game? I'm trying to control it using a ps2 joypad attached via usb, but the car just pulls to the right all the time. It'll only drive straight if I jam the cotroller acroos to the far left!

I seem to remember there being a similar problem and fix for nfs underground - can anyone remember what it is!?
