Need for Speed: Shift 2: Unleashed

Really getting into this game now, I think the handling is spot on with the minimod and some G25 setting tweeks. Can't remember a better recent driving game, miles better than Shift 1... ;)

searched the thread and still cant see so im going to go and ask

where is the SLI support for this game? 41fps is not ideal at the moment

Can't you just disable the sli? I can get up to a v-sync limited 60 on one gtx470, granted that is overclocking it but still.

well SLI is enabled as the game simply doesnt put any load on gpu2
i play at 2560X1600 so require a little more than the 45fps [at best] i get currently.

setup is 480SLI both cards [not that it matters] at 900mhz core
2600k at 4.9ghz etc

so the system should chew any game at my res. just no forthcoming sli support from what i can see. may change with a driver update but i guess its down to EA or nvidia.

seen a few threads around the net of similar issues for any and all multi gpu configs.

Anyone else get the stuttering when a collision happens that Shift 1 also suffered from ?

yes but im putting the fps drop down to sli or lack thereof

EDIT: dragged this off guru 3D
I have not been able to find any sort of SLI setup that will work in Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed. I searched over the net for the past few days looking for an answer and decided to contact Nvidia support today-sometimes that helps.

I was told:

"I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. We have had to turn off SLI on this game due to an in app bug that causes corruption while the game is set to multi-GPU/SLI mode. This occurs with NVIDIA and ATI graphics cards. We are in communication with the game developer to request that this be fixed. Once the developer provides a fix, SLI mode will be enabled again."

So according to Nvidia its not simply a missing SLI profile its a Shift 2 Bug. Sorry if this was already a known fact, I just couldnt dig up anything beyond 'we need a shift 2 SLI profile' so when I got this reply I thought it was worth sharing.

Its not a fix, but at least its some news I suppose. Or it could be an Nvidia level 2 tech trying to shut me up. Have to wait and see I suppose, heres waiting for a patch or a profile, cheers.

Makes sense that Nvidia cards won't suffer from it as the collisions use PhysX.

Too much to expect it to be fixed after 12+ months I suppose.

Cant believe anyone can play this game. How can you stand the input/steering lag???

I've tried every single mod / setting / cfg fix / drivers the lot and nothing fixes it.

Same as shift 1 , epic failure :(

It's just a patch away from something great, am enjoying it now after some tweaking and the mini mod thing. It's got some great potential ;)

It's not to bad with xbox 360 pad, some car need bit tweaking to get them just right while others are a handful no matter what :D.yeah have noticed the a.i is bit wierd some time they do nothing other times really aggresive,
don't think nvidia have released a sli profile for this game, the second gpu is doing nothing.
does using steering give you an advantage in this game? would like to see a comparison between xbox 360 and steering wheel

aparently the input lag is based on your FPS, so those of us with high fps dont get it ..

did you try juls minimod ? heres got a file that suposed to reduce the lag for people not getting high fps

i'm having allot of issues with the faster cars on say the muscle car tracks, i got a fully race modded challenger stuck ev mod on, traction control on full etc, set the springs stiffer and adjusted to front/ rear wing.

i set off from the start line and the other cars just shoot off with approx dbl the acceleration, theres no way to catch em up, when u get to the first corner i have to anchor on , they just go full speed....

i noticed the ai cars are very aggresive and when one nudges me i get auto slung round the wrong way, also when you crash into all wall you can be sure if you hit it a 5 degree angle your car instantly hits it straight on, very annoying as on a 4 lap race you may aswell restart if you get nudged at any point during the race as theres no way to catch up.

anyone have any setup tips to improve fast cornering in a rwd with stupid amounts of power and torque ? with ms xbox pad

do you play with the throttle in the corners? i usually whack the throttke up to full every other second on some of the corners and it gives the car a bit of bite

Im still getting low GPU usage with this game... Such a shame, its fine if i'm out in front but in traffic its dropping below 30fps.

MSI AB says max of about 50% usage on the core.

Only this game, Crysis 2 is fine at max settings and res....

Any ideas? Have tried two different drivers (WHQL and the new Beta's) Still the same.

Have you seen the rig in my sig? I'm getting over 80 fps with everything maxed out. I've even tried turning every graphic setting to low and still exactly the same.

I've tried juls minimod and the dinput8.dll file the lot. Even tried setting the dampening to 0 in the cfg file.

I've seriously tried everything and the more i research on this problem the more I find that there are no solutions to this problem.

Being a sim racer for many years it makes the game completely unplayable for me. Maybe you just aren't noticing it. Have a look at some of the videos on youtube, just type shift 2 input lag.

Can't understand how a company can let a product like this be released with such a game breaking flaw.
