Need for Speed: Shift 2: Unleashed

6.20.858 is my new lap record for the Nurburgring with the Scion. I posted this FAO Gurdas who discussed this with me in this thread AGESSSSS ago :p

Seems like I was wrong about the Radical being the fastest round the ring, the Scion is much more controlled and precise, more tame than the Radical with nice power delivery which doesn't light up the rear wheels like the radical does out of each corner!

Now, to try and break into the 6 minute 19s ;)

not bad.. i haven't beaten mine yet.. but then again i haven't tried it either :D

whats the world record and what car was it set in? or are people still posting fake times

lol

wtf? i wasnt suggesting you two were posting fake times  i meant on the autlog wall a lot of the times had been fake like 0.1seconds for monxza and stuff but aparently they all got removed and only realistic times can be posted now....

misunderstood.. thought you meant that "are you still posting fake times" like you said in the Championship thread that people with no autolog will be faking the times :)

anyone managed to drift properly? I tried it with my wheel and it seems almost impossible.

It is pretty much impossible!! I have found if you change to 360 controller for the drifting you will find it much easier, still hard though but definatly designed around controller rather than wheel.

probably just takes a lot of practice, i remember the drifting in project torque was hard as hell but with a lot of hours practice you could eventually get it nailed so you could drift in a perfect circle and keep it up for aslong as you wanted.

people just expect everything to be so easy in modern games.. like if the BF1942 desert combat mod was released just now everyone would be crying the helicopters are impossible to fly...

there was a time when stuff took skill and a lot of practice now everyone expect it all to be instant

how do you disagree? i have given you a video of my good self drifting perfectly well around one of the more challenging circuits. without crashing or losing control

i do not have super human reactions at all [ask my COD clan, they will tell you how abysmal i am :D] i use an xbox pad. standard default control mapping. nothing fancy.

took me a few goes to get the video like that so that all of the drifts were as long as i could get them but it isnt exactly hard

start in the drift alliance 200sx then start using the rx8 they give you when you are more comfortable with the handling. i used the standard 200sx for the first few events, basically they make it impossible for you to compete with the scores unless you use a faster car and that is the best time to change over.

its all about feathering the throttle and using the cars momentum to steer rather than the actual wheels.
i can do it on a keyboard too but its a lot easier on the pad.
i have some insane videos i need to upload of the london drift circuit.

it does take some practice yes, but an hour spent on it and it becomes easy. i used to only do drifting on GRID as well but the physics are very different.

exactly :) xbox pad.. with a wheel you don't have time to react to the change of direction.. i can drift but not beat the easy scores or without crashing.. :)

its easy on a wheel too.
you dont have to drive one hand over the other like you do with normal racing, you have to throw the wheel around a bit to get the lock to how you want it.
i tried it on a logitech wheel at work and found it easier to hold drifts.
this is with default configs, i fail to see why all wheel owners are crying a river over the controls on this game, it is perfectly acceptable for what it is.

i dont see what the fuss is about.

heres something i just threw together.
got a 350z - put all the performance upgrades on it bar the engine swap and works conversion [stage 2 bodykit not stage 3]
tightened up the suspension and lowered the ride height [could do with some tweaking]

other than that, never used the car before.
took the video after the first attempt on the track with the car.
it really isnt difficult after a bit of practice.

Play GTR, GTR2, Race 07 or even Dirt2 with a wheel and then tell me that the default settings for Shift 2 (or1) are any good.

I really want to like this game, I really do, I've spent over 40 hours on Shift 1 and was hoping that SMS had taken on board the criticisms of the first game and produced a top quality race sim. They haven't.
