Need for Speed: Shift 2: Unleashed

This game became really enjoyable after I started adjusting every car's tyre pressure to mid scale, and ride hide to 1/3 of its scale. Also spring rate to 1/3 near "Stiff". By default all cars had ride hight at maximum(!!), spring rate at maximum soft and tyres at max pressure.

Really good game now though! Some cars are still undrivable boats though- Lotus and Shelby Cobra are the biggest offenders. Nissans, BMWs, Lambos, Astons, Audis, Porsches are all very nice to drive with tuning changes above- which is nice:)

Breaking news!
Ferrari is in Shift2 now!

Hey Guys

Just picked NFS Unleashed today, couldn't knock it back for £5 from HMV..

Anyone recommend mods to install?

Looking for updated graphics, maybe more cars etc!!

Thanks

Its a very good game once you do change stock riding height/suspension softness as I mentioned couple of posts above. Are you going to play with a wheel?

For MODS etc head to nogrip forums- downloads section there has quite a few.

Using a wheel..

Microsoft wireles 260 wheel. Works well in F1 2011 so will give it a try..

Although I did see a Driving Force GT for £75 in Game, would that be better?

I've never come across Ms 260 (you mean 360?) wheel, so cant really comment. I think its meant to be xbox's equivalent to PS3's Driving Force GT. But both are usb so for PC I guess both are equal- but its only a guess, as I've nevere tried 360 wheels myself.

This game is real good fun with 540 degrees steering (does your wheel support that?)- steering has quite good FF and is also very quick once configured properly.

I have DFGT and it's very very good.

Easy enough to turn the wheel, FFB can be very strong if you want it to be, 900 degrees of rotation if that's your thing.

Just started trying shift 2 as i bought it when it was going for 3.75 on origin not long ago with the 2 DLC for free.

The 360 pad seems very sensative i.e tiny touch left or right does a lot of turning. Anyone got a nice setup for the 360 pad for settings so it doesnt turn as quick and allows for the stick to be pushed before it turns as much if u know what i mean.

Also had a crash to desktop which was disappointing. Anyone know how to prevent it?

I could not play this game at all with a joypad (also 360), but with a wheel it a really good semi sim fun fun fun game (once I've learnt to untick "allow game to change wheel settings" that is)

What is the current latest patch for this? The EA site only has 1.01 but I've seen 1.02 referenced in posts?

I'm planning on picking this up at some point either via steam sale or just Amazon but I have a question, how does it feel using an xbox joypad ? I've read some people on other forums says it's unplayable while others say it handles just fine, maybe it's just subjective and I'll have to wait and find out for myself.

Crossfire works for me, I am using 2x 5770's. One thing that is bugged with crossfire is that the in game shadows are too dark, ie if you race in cockpit view the interior is very dark, same with dusk races the track seems to just go black in the shaded areas.
