Need for Speed: Shift 2: Unleashed

Was in Gamestation earlier, and they told me it was Friday. I'm dubious to whether what he told me was true as he didn't really seem to know anything about the PC gaming scene.

argh!

I am looking at selling my pc and going for a PS3 for the odd bit of gaming but will this play well on a PS3 compared to the rig in my sig?

It does look fantastic, I really enjoyed shift 1 with the OcUK timetrials we did on here.

ps3 games are generally dire.

trust me i own ps3 and xbox 360. the only games that look good on ps3 are wipe out HD and uncharted, ok maybe a few others but none really do anything other than less than Half HD res, 30-40fps and no AA + poor grainy textures usually.

seriously the ps3 controller is also horrid imo

For those thinking about getting a steering wheel, the G27 with a wheel stand pro is an absolute cracking combo!! I have this set up and its awesome!!!

Can't wait for this game looks fantastic and helmet cam looks amazing :)

Been a long time since I was into PC gaming...

Curious, what type of PC setup would be needed to get 60fps via Triple 1080p? Havnt a clue what type of GFX card, cheap as possible would achieve this. Preferrably a single card than SLI/Crossfire though.

Lastly is it likely to work with the awesome T500Rs wheel on PC?
I see for consoles it is not yet confirmed as supported.

A 5850 could run the first one with 8xssaa comfortably (40fps or so constant ) but I'd imagine you'd probably need a flashed 6950 / 6970 / clocked 480 / 580 to get 60fps constant on a triple monitor setup ( minus the 8xssaa )

No heard anything official about the wheel, but I can't see it not working tbh.

Only thing I'd suggest it to give it a week or 2 for the reviews to come out / modders to fix the handling if you're after a more sim-like experience.

The dury is still out on whether they've fixed the boat-like handling from the first Shift.

And refusing to let a pc racing-based website do a proper hands-on preview / try it with a wheel prior to release just amplifies those doubts.

I have been playing, or should I say struggling to play Shift 1 all night. I thought I would give it another go and get into it for when unleashed is released..

What an absolute pile of garbage shift 1 is.... its incredibly poor, My G27 felt awkward and floppy... I tried dozens of various set ups both with the logitech drivers and the ingame settings... nothing worked to my satisfaction.

I have decided to wait for the release reviews now.... im in no rush still loving Dirt 2 and getting in to Rfactor!..

I thought someone with your previous would be looking at a warpilizer set up with 2 or 3 projectors and a curved screen!!... and frex simconmotion set up!!

Download the Overhaul mod from here :

http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=31366

It improves the handling with wheels so it feels less floaty / boat-like, plus a few other tweaks.

Just be sure to read the instructions fully, as there's quite a few steps to follow :)

Just don't expect rFactor / Gtr2 / iRacing levels of handling / force feedback.

Yeah I read about the overhaul mod, but its too long winded for me to install. Idecided to uninstall Shift....

... thanks for the link though!!!

I do hope NFS Shift 2 has ironed out many of the problems seen in the first one... not that it matters. I am really looking forward to may when Dirt 3 comes out. That should last me until GRID 2 which is the game I am really looking forward to!

You need two Nvidia cards indefinitely for triple screen gaming. It's how they work except the new 590.

You can use a single 5870/6950/6970 for eyefinity though. I wouldn't recommend getting a single 5870 though as it doesn't have solid 60fps in 3-screen. 5970 however might be up your street, second hand they're around £350 I think. Or the new 6990 but I don't recommend that as it's expensive, as well as the gtx590. :p
