Need for Speed: Shift 2: Unleashed

Arknor, apart from ingame aa, do you have everything else on high / max ?

Btw, just finished the McLaren F1 Special Single-Type race, unlocked when you open up GT3, and can safely say that the F1 is bonkers.

The Caterham & Radical are fairly civilized in comparison.

Enjoyed most of the Single-Type races, but on some cars the oversteer at medium / high speeds is far too much. Not being able to tweak their setup makes them a bit frustrating to drive.

xbox pad is made for this game, nice rumble support and decent controls. Might just need to alter the dead zones a bit though as the defaults are a bit unresponsive.

I am loving the game, so far the default settings of the xbox controller are pretty much spot on for me. With Overclockers autolog list it's added a great new dimension to the racing.

Best racing game for the PC imho - though I am not a hard core sim racer by any long stretch of the imagination.

Only thing I wish the autolog did is show the controller type against the times :(

yea but i turned blur off because it spoils the image quality imo

Looks like SMS have some ATi optimization to do then, just like Shift 1.

At 1680x1050, with ingame aa set at normal, I get around 45-55fps with an i5@4ghz / 5850@5870 clocks / everything else on high / max.

Using morphological aa gives the same results. With no aa it's 100+fps.

possibly.

im running
1055t @ stock
4gb memory
gigabyte GTX460 oc 1gb @ stock for the card
1920x1080 resolution
ive posted a lot of screenshots in the highres thread heres a link to one of my posts there
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=18845674&postcount=12100
as you can see from the fraps counter i get a pretty much solid 60fps.

on the night races i take a hit though and it can go as low as 30ish but generally i stay around 40-50 in night races depending on the track.

when ive used msi afterburners OSD my gpu usage is around 96-99% so its really working to maintain that fps and the game is using around 900mb of memory at 4x aa.

so glad i got the 1gb 460 :) ,i remember arguing with bigwayne about how the 768mb cards are gonna be pants if you want AA and he blinded everyone with his stupid power point presentation style posts even though he owned neither version of the card

it depends on what your using, to what settings you need to change, the patch at the end of the month is suposed to fix it anywya though.

also if you get juls handling minimod theres a dll with it that helps a lot to

The whole thread imho is well worth the read, the devs hung around and answered queries as they came - hopefully someone asks re pc dlc but i'm only on page 4 :)

http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=248847

The devs avoid questions regarding the dlc because it's up the publishers - EA - and not them. Regardless, it looks like we will get it at some point :

" EA has announced that a solution for PC version owners is currently in the works "

Just more love for that thread - love it when the devs, in this case the head of slightly mad development is understanding some of the concerns

That Lotus handling is a bit duff in my opinion. So I get the frustration on that. I wasn't happy with it before ship and pressed Doug to check it over a few times but the specs seemed to be correct. I suspect there's a bug in it we haven't been able to spot. I'll give Doug another nudge.

and some more snippits as I read through

A couple of people have asked why this discussion wasn't kicked off on the EA forums. The simple answer here is that 3rdparty developers need to go through EA to post on there, which is far from ideal. It's quite difficult to engage with your audience if everything has to be vetted.

So of course our dev-team have been following the feedback on the official forums - our silence there isn't a reflection that we don't care - it's just a product of that EA policy.

That's a good question and unfortunately we can't answer this one yet as it's up to EA and not us. I can tell you that from a development point of view the DLC was authored to the highest level like the rest of the game so it runs on PC (now) very nicely.

You've no need to defend me - I'm quite capable of that if someone has a worthy point I'd like to contest There's only one post in over three hundred that got my back up a little ..
(actually there were two others - bug reports that I know for a fact occur only in an 'unofficial' version of our game)

A good example are the questions about our input XMLs in the ControllerDefaults - one of our coding team devoted 15 months of his life to this sort of stuff and is away for a few days - I'll speak to him when he gets back and get a good answer, rather than me replying with in-exact info! That seems fair?

i read its suspected the handling/physics model doesnt work how it should on short wheel based cars

I've just purchased this on the EA site as it seemed a bit of a bargain. Just wondering without trawling through this entire thread, does it work well with a wheel or more specifically the G25?

The first Shift was pretty dire with a wheel but worked well with a 360 controller, I'm just hoping they've fixed the issues with this one?

This thread covers controller settings and the G25 http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=246312

Nice one, btw nice times in autolog, I am assuming (hoping) you're on a wheel but they are nice times all the same!

I am using a wheel - Driving Force Pro - although the only reason I'm at the top on some tracks is because most of the aliens haven't raced on them yet.

Btw, NIKAZ uses a pad & he's generally near the top/at the top of time trials, so having a wheel doesn't always compensate for a lack of driving ability :)

Agreed, I know some wheel users who prefer to use the gamepad. To be fair at the moment I feel I have enough control with the controller - I just need to smooth out my driving :)
