^ Need for Speed Shift ^

so if it was say £100 game, would it then ? :D

its just the arguement that Shift fails because its not 'realistic' is plain stupid!!

is BF2 a war simulator because it has moddled real world weapons ?

its just a game, you either enjoy or dont , simples no ?

and do you seriously think a £20-30 computer game is going to simulate driving realistically ? LOL .. ?

I was waiting for somebody to say something like that

There are plenty of driving games that fairly accurately simulate driving (GTR/GTR 2, rFactor, Live for speed, iRacing, the Forza series etc etc etc)

Shift fails miserably compared to those.

has anybody done the tri-oval on the endurance section on tier3? i have a works murcielago and am being left for dust. i get in to last place pretty much from the off and i've no chance of catching them even when glued to the racing line. how the **** am i supposed to the win this?

and yes, the AI is on easy. :D

ive played all but iRacing, all good in there own way but nothing like driving the real thing.

still, im sure you have your reasons for trying to change the minds of people who are enjoying this fantastic game

I'd be interested in seeing some videos from the people who reckon they've got the controls sorted and the handling model is fine. I want to see how differently yours is driving/behaving compared to mine because from where i'm sat, it's awful.

I recorded a test video of me drifting yesterday but haven't gotten around editing it yet.

Like others have mentioned the racing model isn't the best out there but if you take it for what it is (as in not a sim) and tweak the controls as you see fit then you can still have fun with it. And this is coming from someone who plays a lot of GT/Forza/GTR.

I agree.

I've played most of the racing sims available and while I do enjoy them, it's not a simulation of real race driving. Having driven single seaters a few times, games can't simulate the G forces, the wind, the noise or the feeling through the seat. The games just give you the best representation of race driving they can, given the limited scope of force feedback wheels and game graphics.

Now I have got the wheel working properly in the demo, it's an enjoyable experience and I had fun playing the game. Which is all you can ever expect from a game.

ah yes. that made quite a difference. still only came 3rd but that will do. as it took 18 minutes, i'm in no hurry to try it again. :D

it's 3 full laps of the ring next.... :p

have you tried to get the star for a clean lap of nordy in the bugatti ? its one of the event challenges and its pure evil !!! i might make that my goal of the day :p

They give a good representation of driving given the medium they are running on. Live For Speed is extremely accurate for what it is.

 I'm not trying to change anybody's mind, I'm just stating my feelings about the game. This is a discussion forum you know.

Very true, but the other games I mentioned do a MUCH better job than Shift :)

LOL. i've already commented on that earlier in thread. no ******* way. just winning it was enough satisfaction for me. :D

as it's a one on one race you'd have to win otherwise you won't get to the finish.

Yep lapped the field in my Tier 2 car :D

im not saying you cant repeat the same boring churn 'its not realistic!!!! its not a simulation !!! its not a realistic racing simulation!!! .. you've made your point why do you persist in repeating it?

LFS is widly regarded as a great game, ive dabbled with it but prefer rFactor but sometimes i want to have fun and games like GRID/Shift are perfect for that.

You and many others dont like Shift, we know.. we know ... dont turn it into a trolling event please ;)

ah, i just tried a tier2 car and it's a doddle. i couldn't be bothered to do the race again but i was first after a couple of corners. it's easy to see how you could have lapped the entire field.

It's a good one for points and cash though, and you just need to tie the wheel with a bit of string :)
