^ Need for Speed Shift ^

The handling is crazy. I'm driving on a straight at 120mph and a small correction causes the BMW touring car to enter a drift, just like it does in every corner. It oversteers in any car, any track, and is impossible to drive properly. I'm going to try my DFP later on with the demo, but I'm not holding my breath.

To me, it seems to fail at being an arcade racer (where GRID really shines), but also fails miserably at being a sim because of the over-polished graphics and dire handling.

If they can sort out the crazy way the cars drive, there might be some hope, otherwise it's another miss for the NFS series for me.

yeah that is really stupid.. only way i found to play the game is with AWD card.. no rwd car is hand able in any track.. i mean you press like 20% throttle and it will spin out.. in an e46m3 with tier 3 tuning and upgrades maxed out i can still hear the wheels spinning at over 70mph..

^^ fun? nowhere near that :O all helps disabled and a wheel you will find it hard to enjoy.. im sweating like stupid after 4x3 matches

Going to give this a proper go and try and get used to the handling. It seems the back end of the car pushes out and the whole car drifts slightly the direction you're trying to turn instead of actually manoeuvring around the corner when turning.

Graphics are decent, I'm running this with my temporary 8800GT at 1080p, more or less 50FPS+ with max details and 2x AA. Grid is still #1 for me... at the moment.

Annoying:

Last straight on the 'Ring, slide off, touch the grass, lose time but it says 'TRACK CUT LAP TIME WONT COUNT' grrr

always does that.. even tho you dont make any time saving lol

You can sort it out yourself with the controller settings, the game is fine as it is bar the horrible default control settings.

No, it's not. Like I said before, fiddling with control settings just makes it easier to control the utterly dire and frankly bizarre physics model.

Anyone think that shift's dire stearing could be modded out by some one or is it locked down? It fails at being arcady or sim like. Its just terrible. What were they thinking?!

Its a real shame as the gfx and sounds are really nice. :(

'Steering Dead Zone-15%
Accel Dead Zone-10%
Brake Dead Zone-10%
Steering sensitivity-5%
Acell Sensitivity -5%
Brake sensitivity-5%
Speed steering Sensitivity 100% '

This works a treat

wheel and gamepad. honestly makes all the difference

There is now a 2nd fix for the sensitive steering/oversteer problem this game exhibits in its default settings. And let me tell you it is a NIGHT and DAY difference.
Please use 2nd fix along with the original thread suggestions on turning down sensitivity in the control options.

I have posted the original sensitivity config here:

Steering Dead Zone-15%
Accel Dead Zone-10%
Brake Dead Zone-10%
Steering sensitivity-5%
Acell Sensitivity -5%
Brake sensitivity-5%
Speed steering Sensitivity 100%

On to the 2nd fix:

At the main menu enter CAR GARAGE----> TUNING, press 'Y' to enter quick tuning mode.
Under the heading 'balance' move the slider all the way to OVERSTEER. That's right oversteer. Apparently the developer labeled this slider wrong or its a glitch. Turning the slider to oversteer will actually add understeer.

Now go drive. as you can see the cars are now more comparible to the feeling of Forza2 and RacePro. It may not be as good but it is now close! There was a sim hidden somewhere in all this mess and I may have to take back some to the nasty things I said beforehand :)

(Special thanks to Torque Spike for finding this on the EA forums!)

Thanks for posting it though, i'll try it out.

EDIT: It does help a bit by dumbing down the steering, but the model is still pants and I can't live with it at all. Shame, was looking forward to this.
