^ Need for Speed Shift ^

GRID doesn't look half as realistic as Shift.

haha stop talking wet!

graphically this has nothing on grid! only reason pics in here look decent is because people have downsized them from 1920x1200 to 800x600

then put graphics mod on grid and it absolutely blows away this game graphically

This is basically how every online race starts for me...

... every car on the grid goes backwards 5ft then pi**es-off into the distance, all before I even get the green start light. It really is a big pile of sh*te for me when I race online. Every other game I've got, be it racing or whatever, run's fine and without any lag.

you've only spent an hour on Shift !! most of that learning to drive around the first corner !!! you havent yet sampled all its delights !! :p

GRID has great visuals (which improve again if you remove the 'brown' tint) but Shift blows it away for photo realistic graphics.. end of

Down sizing only takes away the jagged edges & can make some textures look sharper & we have seen the same for GRID as well & to me SHIFT has the lead & no mod needed.

sorry but, no! :p

managed to dig this out from photobucket:

I think it is, because I'm pretty sure I've seen those pics before and distinctly recall people talking about mods.

In any case, I would agree, Shift looks more realistic but it doesn't necessarily look 'better'.

Plus, GRID looks so much more fluid and runs at a constant 60fps; in fact it's the smoothest looking PC game I've ever played ... well apart from Crysis @ 60fps, but that's a very rare occurance. :p

..would love to play this game now but still waiting for a patch ..... at the moment NFS Shift graphics can be compared to flicking photographs ... appalling.
...on the other hand GRID played straight out of the box with 150+ FPS.

Anyway, it's official. Here's a response from an EA Developer for us poor ATI Card users ......

"We are looking into this and will update the thread when we have more news, please keep the stickied ATI thread (http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/304149.page) updated with your system spec’s as this can help us determine what hardware is affected. In the mean time trying the following may help increase your frame rate:
Ensure the Anti-aliasing and Anisotropic filtering settings in your graphics driver control panel are set to “Application Controlled”. For Nvidia users right click on the Nvidia icon in your system tray and select “Nvidia Control Panel” from the popup menu or run the nvcplui.exe file located in /WINDOWS/system32/. Click on “Manage 3D settings” in the left hand pane and in the right hand pane ensure Anisotropic filtering is set to “Application-controlled” and Antialiasing is also set to “Application-controlled”.
ATI users should right click the ATI icon in their system tray and select “Catalyst Control Centre” from the popup menu. When in the control centre click the “Graphics” button in the top left of the screen then select 3D from the drop down window. In the 3D window select the AA tab and ensure the “Use application settings” check box is ticked, then click on the AF tab and again ensure the “Use application settings” check box is ticked.
There are also some options in game that can be tweaked that can help increase the frame-rate. Below are the options that will have the greatest impact on performance.
You can lower the FSAA setting to 2x or 4x which should be adequate at higher PC resolutions.
Try setting the Filtering option to “Trilinear”, this will still use anisotropic filtering on the in-game objects that need it most and is an excellent quality/performance compromise setting.
Lowering the motion blur setting, medium should look fine on most systems.
Lowering the car detail setting. "

whats the best car to buy at the end?

All the way through i've progressed as quickly as possible like a small child at Christmas ripping open presents. I've got to the point where everything is affordable in the game and i'm not going backwards completing everything with precision to get it 100% done.

But my question is, Is the Zonda F the one to get (as the car rating suggests) or would it be a Bugatti Vayron? With the Zonda F you cant do any upgrades... is it possible to buy a lower rated car and then upgrade it to be better?

I joined an internet game last night and two rather experienced high driver profile gamers had fully done out lamborghini murcielago lp640 (i think)... is this the best overall car?

I came 2nd in the first race and 1st in the second race with my Zonda F but was fighting with the force feedback like a ninja on acid.

The Zonda for me hasn't let me down yet, the veyron is too much to put down on the track at times, i nearly always end up on the podium with it unless i muck it all up by binning it into a corner

I bought this las week and have yet to sit down and have a proper session on it, i've had the odd play and just unlocked the 2nd level cars (RS4 etc), i really want a G25 for it, if i bought a G25, does it work on PS3 too?

Yes and get one definatley!

Nice Lotus vid above.

I really really hate the fact that the ingame wheel doesn't turn pretty much at all when your going round bends :(

This is something really basic that should have been sorted from day 1 of testing.

Any way to replace the keyboard symbols with 360 pad symbols in the menus? Usually games detect the pad and replace the symbols but it hasn't on this one. Pad works perfectly otherwise just a bit annoying having to remember which key is which button.
