^ Need for Speed Shift ^

I read somewhere (that i forgot now :p), that if you update to the latest PhysX drivers, it plays better on ATi cards, so ive done that, and it does seem better. :)

i posted some stuff about it on the page 35 posts 1045/46, i noticed after installing the demo that if you go to start button then nvidia physx , the option for demo is broken/missing, if you know what i mean, yet before the demo of nffs was installed the physx demo`s worked and now they dont/there missing:confused:

Anybody having problems with a terrible drop in frame rates after about 1 lap or so? The game starts off fine with no issues, then freezes completely for about 2 seconds followed by slow frame rates. Restarting the game does not fix the issue (PC needs a complete reboot). I have the latest Nvidia drivers - I uninstalled my version of PhysX and installed the version on the game CD but no difference. I'm running a Qx6700 and a factory overclocked 260 (216) GTX.

the easy way is to cheat. :o

you can do tier3 events in a tier1/2 car. the AI will use the same class.

I did this, as when you open Tiers 2 and 3, you don't have enough money for a car relative car. Surely it's not cheating?
Yeah wondered why people were having difficulties completeing events earlier. :p

The 'pointless' patch is probably mainly to add the mouse support ASAP, as it's a huge pain in the backside (even though I've sort of got used to it). I suspect there will be more to come within a few weeks, as the pC version was the one which got squeezed up against the deadline.

I haven't looked at the patch yet, but this morning I upgraded my Cayman S to Tier 3 and found it had become a very enjoyable ride indeed. I know this sim (and I think it is a sim in game's clothing) is looked down upon from a great height by hardcore simmers, but I haven't had this much immersive fun in a title -- GTR2, LFS, iRacing, GPL, Evo, whatever -- for a long time.

I upgraded my Cayman S to Tier 2 on the day I got SHIFT, and it was completely undriveable.
However, after getting used to the controls, phsyics, tweaking the 360 controller, and upgrading the car to Stage 3 goodness, it now handles very well.

The car will easily 'swing' into a corner at very high speeds, and is much easier to control at higher speeds than my Mazda RX-8.

Managed to find myself unlocking Tier 4 and be in a Lamborghini Murcielago, fully tuned and it absolutely stomps on anything in the Tier 3. Currently saving for a nice Tier 4 car.

Played online for the first time last night... trying to take out another player is difficult and usually results in you taking yourself out... once i stopped prating about i won 4 consecutive races which was nice... you also get the $$$'s for winning online in the similar way to career.

Ordered a Logitech G25 wheel yesterday which arrives today with any luck should be waiting for me when i get in :-) Happy days.

I ad a bash on the demo with the Driving Force GT (Originally a PS3 wheel) Am tempted to stick it on the bay and get a G25. Worth it?

just had a go at windowed mode, no real improvment to game play, but did notice my cpu usage while in a race and its any where from 81% to about 88% on both cores all the time, this cant be good, would i be better with a quad core?

Is the G25 the way to go if you want a steering wheel?

basically you pay for what you get, the G25 is expensive for a reason and its reflected in its build quality and ease of use.

You can buy cheaper wheels that will do a job but a G25 is for life :p

Here's the CPU usage on my machine, a Q6600 at 2.4GHz.

Possibly it is CPU bound on dual core machines?

yeah after seing yours its looking that way, but im running ati4850 and see your running nvidia card, maybe thats why its so high on mine, my cpu is doing all the phsyx stuff so im stuffed basically:mad:

Come to think of it I should have selected 15 opponents for that race, rather than just one, to give the CPU more work to do.

I dunno about Physx, does it work if you only have a single GPU or do you need two or more?

edit - I tried it with 15 opponents, CPU usage was a bit higher but not much. From the CPU graph it seems to be using all four cores though. Possibly also the relatively small amount of L2 cache on the Pentium dual core hurts performance too.

the AI is starting to **** me off now. even on easy, they're really aggressive. just did 3 laps of the ring on tier3 and the ******** kept ramming me off the road.

i won in the end but with the top4 separated by less than a second, it's not good for my blood pressure. 24 odd minutes of racing could have went down the drain had any of them slipped past me on the last few corners. :D

Im finding I have to ramp up the AI as I find it too easy!

I havn't used a wheel in bloody ages. Since the dreamcast me thinks...

I'm seriously considering the G92 and NFS:Shift. Hrmm...
