^ Need for Speed Shift ^

Its going to be another E.A fail. God i hate that company.

E.A is just a publisher. You hate the company that published Mass Effect, Crysis Warhead, The Sims, Dead Space, Mirrors Edge etc etc? or just because some other people do for no special reason?

it looks promising, will you be able to tune and customize your cars this time?

Jeez how can people **** it off before its even released? It could actually be good you know

thats the OC UK community for ya. keep up the gaming spirit guys! /sarcasm

They typod the game title for sure.... a stray f made it's way in there for god's sake.

Its more like PGR than Forza but read the interview for yourself from AutoSimSport Vol5
This game uses a complete new engine and physics as well.

Its done by a VERY talented bunch of guys that did GTR and GT Legends.
They were called "Blimey" and were doing a very much wanted PC game called "Ferrari Project"
Blimey went into receivership.

The guys involved are now known as "Slightly Mad Studios"

Can't imagine the realism no so it's a risky leap for me. They've done the street racer scene to death now so I guess this is a welcome change. From what I've seen, it looks great so far.

It certainly looks very nice but can anyone actually imagine an NFS game being realistic?

In the interview the guy mentions the most advanced physics yet on a console running at 420Hz (console not PC version)

Arcade and sim modes but to me it looks a bit like PGR and Grid combined but adding a touch of GT. Its meant to be mass market however bringing new touches to creating a unique driving experience. This is NOT EAs people making the game they are only doing the PSP version.

According to Eurogamer due Sept 18th
Got to be worth closer inspection and it cant be much more of a let down than Race Pro imo.

My expectations are low for this. It looks nice, but so did GRID - didn't stop it being rubbish.
Just reading the article Mr Latte linked, the fact one of the developer describes it like this: "this is more 'pick up and play' than project gotham racing, but its also the most realistic sim ever made" - sorry.... but what? I've read on from there and the guy justifies it but I just really can't see it working at the moment.

I am hoping for something good, I'm just not going to expect it.

psp version lol the easiest of the bunch to develope for hahaha lazy EA.
Have you developed for the PSP? What makes it so easy...

Grid is one of the best car games available at the mo so why do you think its rubbish?

PSp no experiance but heard from various sites its easy to develop for.

Hey whats to moan about, another game coming along isnt a bad thing.

2009-2010?
DIRT 2
F1 2009
R Factor 2
FM3
GT5

and theirs more.....

Now tell me why i cant get rid of my Playseat in the Members Market. ;)

GRID's handling is beyond poor. I have more fun jabbing myself in the arm with a fork than driving in that game.
The PSP limitations will make a decent conversion of a game designed for current gen consoles and PC a lot of effort, by no means is it easy. Designing a game from scratch for psp is a different matter.

Yeh plenty of games to look forward to - although I'm hooked on GTREvo at the moment.

Mr Latte - I'd love one, I just haven't got anywhere to put it. Not to mention I think the support for the wheel being between my legs would be annoying and get in the way should I keep changing which foot I am using to brake with on my G25 :p

Why are NFS aiming at racing games? Ever since the days of Underground 2 i just cant get into them at all, the only one i really liked after that was Most Wanted.

The early ones were great. 1, 2, 2SE and 3. My personal fav was 2 SE. Underground was quite good too. After that they were all rubbish or too much the same

The graphics on those shots look much better than grid, I'm betting the actual game wont look like that though.

Well I heard an interview on Major Nelson's Podcast and its sound like they are making 3/4 games to cover all of the Need For Speed areas.

So Shift is the more sim like (not a sim but sim-like, probably closer to grid) racing series for the hardcore fans. They are making another game for psp, wii, ds etc i believe which will be NFS:U style probably. With an open world online PC game coming out later this year.

I think shift is looking real good as its on a new engine and made by a different team. Its forza meets grid, I wouldn't expect much to come out of it tho as its only been in development for a short time so only a certain amount of tracks and probably no customizability.

They can always add extra tracks over time, reminds me of the latest PGR game on XBOX 360, looks good and plays good.
