^ Need for Speed Shift ^

Mine is coming :) I never liked NFS games online though always played single campaign and nothing else so my time with the game will be short lived.

oh come on, don't say they've somehow managed to bugger up the controls!!!!

Please let that just be the eyepatch version, please let that just be the eyepatch version........

I 'sampled' the 360 version of the game at a friends house, and can confirm it too suffers from the same deadzone strangeness that Rypt is reporting. It has almost put me off the game, but I will give it a try on my PC and see if it's better with a wheel.

Oh, and before people start shouting filthy pirate, if the PC version feels better with a wheel, then I will actually be BUYING it :)

surely you can't be expected to buy a wheel just to be reasonably competent at this, that's ridiculous.

It's a NFS title, designed to be played on gamepads surely as most of the sales will be on the consoles????

For the record I agree that the lack of a demo is a very bad idea as it encourages more people to dl it. EA will then no doubt whine about piracy and how they will give up developing anythign other than Sims games for the pc as it's not worth their time and effort.

This sounds very meh from the Eurogamer review which is just what I expected. And they confirm my preconceptions that it is a Need for Speed game in name only.

It may just be a case of fiddling with the sensitivity settings, I only had a quick blast with what I presume was standard settings.

I was all set to get this on the 360 as I do pretty much all my gaming on the 360 now, but the control strangeness was really off-putting :(

Being an immoral person also I'm trying it out now :D

So far I've found that the 360 controller dead zones are huge (partial throttle seems to not exist with just default settings), and I can't make car go where I want it to despite playing GRID all the time and doing well in it.

Fiddling required I think

From what I've see from reviews/videos etc there is an advanced control option allowing you to set all your deadzones etc. Guessing you are on 50% deadzone if it doesn't start working till half-way? :P

DIRT 2 suffers from the same thing on the PS2, but with a G25 it's perfect.
