^ Need for Speed Shift ^

The standard settings for the xbox controller are really bad. I never noticed how crud they were untill i tried the settings posted. Thanks very much it is making the game much more enjoyable now :D

Yup had a few frame rate issues when in car view ... 4870 as well . Not a game stopper but was a little anoying . Lowered the settings a little and its better than it was .

Also the pad settings given a page back have helped tame the handling a little but def a case of to much power spoils the broth . Do all the handling mods and the first engine mod and its normally more than quick enough to cope . The infinity (tier 1) car once tuned is very nice . and on 20" rims and flat black paint looks mint :P

Atm doing tier 3 with the new Gtr and goes quite well .

well mixed feelings so far... more cars need to be tried to get a reel feel for the handling.

to start with had the details set on medium, full resolution and 4x AA, but although the frame rate was stable at 40+ it just didn't feel smooth or responsive. have since dropped to 2x aa and then turned of v-sync. it was the latter that made the real difference to the driving response but spoils the look of the replays.

I'm now about to try forcing triple buffering on the Nvidia control panel in combination with v-sync...

playing on 360 pad atm and have to say, why on earth do you want 35% deadsone out of the box on the controls, there rather limited as it is. set them as has been posted and you at least stand a chance.

will be getting the G25 out at the weekend so that's likely to make a big difference.

final thought is along the lines of "roll on Dirt 2 and those new ati cards"

that's assuming the catalyst drivers get sorted and game experience is solid.

Well my mind is made up now, the shrink wrapped box I've been looking at for the past few hours is being returned in the morning.

done a couple more quick races now,

triple buffer and v-sync seem to have done the trick, much smoother and responsive now.

time to up it to full detail and try some other cars.

lets not kill the game before its even got to the official Launch date! :P

yea, its certainly plenty to play/replay

lots of badges to get/win

time to sleep now but should be a good weekend

also of note, its pretty much maxing out my dual core, running at 90/95% cpu during the start of a race! - then 70-75% on an open track. 50-60% on replays.

currently sitting at 3.6 gig, iv had the chip at4.0 with a fair bit of voltage, but with winter on the way looks like its time to jump back to 3.8.

that's 400x9.5 with the ram on tight 444 timings.

I'm sure it would be enjoyable if the loading times were acceptable along with the frame rates. Its really tiresome waiting over a minute to do a 2lap race :(

Make sure you tune those cars, even if it's just using the quick tuning option, makes a big difference! My GTR handles like a dream now.
