Need For Speed Shift

grrrr.

tier 2, drifting at spa on pro with that bloody silvia is impossible. 900 points from 5 corners. You cant even use your own car.

Managed to get to tier 4 and now got a Works R34 and man is that one beast of a car.....

I've found tuning the car to also handle instead of speed can help... Most of the races I've found is won in the corners, and not straight line speed....

Its not a bad game, you just need to set the cars up, but it is bloody annoying you can't do this for the cars you don't own...

I think this is where the game fails...

LOL epic fail (Just copied it from link)

Fantastic! We love it when things go wrong. Like this instance, when a blogger from FreakBits noted his XBOX 360 copy of Need For Speed Shift had crashed trying to access the, erm, Playstation Store. Really. He writes: "When navigating menus today while connected to Xbox Live the game suddenly crashed again. When my rage had subsided and I got a better look at the screen, I was pretty shocked at what I saw. "Was my Xbox 360 version of Need for Speed Shift really trying to access the Playstation Store? Microsoft are not going to be happy about this." The blogger describes it as the most "embarrassing fail of all [time]" and we happen to agree. To think, XBOX Live owners are paying to access the Playstation Store when we get it for free. Ooooh, sick burn. http://www.pushsquare.com/6939/xbox...e-trying-to-access-the-erm-playstation-store/

I've been playing this a lot using my G25 on the PS3 and now I'm used to it finding it a lot of fun. Once you get the cars setup right the handling is pretty good. Maybe its the wheel which makes all the difference as I never tried it using the pad.

I just changed the steering sensitivity setup, wow I can't believe how much of a difference its made!

Here's what im using now:

Steering Dead Zone - 20
Accelerator Dead Zone - 5
Brake Dead Zone - 5
Steering Sensitivity - 65
Accelerator Sensitivity - 100
Brake Sensitivity - 100
Speed Steering Sensitivity - 100

I quite like it too! Although I tried to do some tier 2 battle races and I could barely keep the car on the road! Going to try the steering settings posted above. Will post back with what I think.

I tried the Forza 3 demo and prefer the handling on that 100x, my plan is to complete and trade this in asap! (Unless the steering settings make it awesome!)

I'm World No1 on Manufacture Completion TIER 1
2000GT-R Race AT EBISU WEST.
360
Love this game once you get used to & get the handling sorted.

Anyone else find this game really buggy? and corrupting saved games?
For starters the sound stutters annoyingly, randomally my car will just dive into the ground lol, it also goes into slow motion but only some of the cars in the race!
But most annoyingly is the corrupt saved games, first day I got it played an hour then came back later and start screen says start career again :S even though I can see one of my cars, so ok do the BMW challenge again but thats as far as It will go and have to restart the close game and delete saved game and start again grrr! now few days later its done it again, but now im into the World Tour and have lots of money and cars and really dont fancy starting all over again!
Anyone else had any of these problems? :(

There is a flood of this second hand due to it being offered as part of an Elite Bundle (with Halo ODST), so just bagged one for £26 delivered, which is perfect, if it's rubbish, I can get £26 cash for it from the high street..

If anyone is unsure, this might be an option!

i'm really enjoying it (ps3) however i've just tried the first drift challenge and con't do it at all!

any advice...... the third stage you have to get 1200 points to win, i can barely get 100!

and here's a pic of me winning one of the challenge races

The drift is VERY tough to hack.

I played the first drifting series yesterday on tier 2... Not fun :(

Although I got most of the stars bar several throughout the series, I was still cack at it.

The trick is to keep your speed down, don't pelt it, turn late into a corner with 'twitch' movements until the car is sliding. Once it's sliding, use the throttle and steering together by feathering them, dont give either one a full squeeze otherwise your going to bugger it up. Just keep restarting until you get it :)

OK, in anticipation of the game arriving, I downloaded the Demo last night (360), and just racing the 111R around London, setting the Physics to 'pro', and just having ABS, I have noticed two things

1. Very annoyingly the car is always moving stupidly around when going straight, as if it's trying to simulate exessive tramlining with a really uneven surface, and it kills any precision. I've ensure it's not the Steering deadband being too low.. is this how it is? can it be reduced? is it just some cars (Demo is limited)..
2. The handling has quite some lag to it, being a Lotus 111R, I would expect much more immediacy to the handling, which feels exceedingly sluggish at times, and highly innaccurate. Is this a car tuning thing? or is it how it is?

I think my main bug bear is item 1, the faked OTT tramlining.. maybe I need to try different controller settings, but it does seem to be part of the handling model..

Nope, that's just the way it is. You can tweak the controls and car setups to make it more playable, but the underlying physics engine is really quite strange at times.

My steering was sluggish then i changed the steering sensitivity to 100% and its perfectly fine now, car does like to scramble about though sometimes.

i am beginning to like the fact that if you go off the road into the gravel you can't recover easily and straight line into the wall.

at least that's realistic!
