Need For Speed Shift

I have an r34 skyline tier 2 tuned, but anything off tier 3 gives no more power, handling, brakes etc. I can buy tier 3 upgrades but they don't do anything.

Anyone else have this problem?

I enjoyed this game whilst playing Tier 1. Thought it isn't too bad and then I got to Tier 2.
My god trying to keep a Cayman S in a straight line is just impossible. You go on the throttle in a straight line and for no reason you start to lose the back and front end randomly.
I checked in the outside view and the wheels aren't spinning when it goes onto full boost its very very strange.

Buy the nissan GTR, not the normal one, but the next one up (can't remember what its called)

Then go round a corner...dont break....just drift round....sooooooooooo much fun

Try to race with Veyron 16.4, i believe its fifth invitational event. Its really hard keep that car on the road for whole lap let alone racing other cars.

As im busy with my business etc
I got a member (Supergoop) at gtf to do this for you.

I think this is further proof that perhaps this game isnt easy to get to grips with. Maybe then some give up and complain that its useless or is undrivable, handles badly and has terrible handling. I think it comes down how people are playing and not overdriving the car.

This video clearly shows a good level of driver skill, driver patience and nothing really wrong with the handling that I can see.
Also bear in mind this is a X360 racing game with upto 16 cars on the "Green Hell" so your not going to get that on other higher pedigree titles like FM3.

I haven't given up on the game, I'm actually near to completing tier 3 now and can drive the cars just fine. That still doesn't alter the fact that the physics engine is badly flawed. I've got to grips with it now, but the fact remains that it's hard to get to grips with not through being realistic, but through being flawed and downright bizarre at times.

Videos prove nothing, it's impossibe to show how a game feels just by looking at it. All those vids prove is that he has got to grips with the game and has found settings that suit him.

No ones pin-pointing you out mate.

I do though disagree with your comment that videos are no use, they clearly demonstrate that the game can be played with good handling and skill. Thats been a topic. If the handling is so bizarre or flawed then that persons doing not to bad at all are they. Also on that TT I had no problems at all putting the car exactly were I wanted it. Neither are are the guys doing it complaining about the handling.
Seems you didnt bother trying as Id like to see your "longterm experience" and ability to understand how its so bad.

We get your point already but please remember you are saying words like "realistic handling" and were talking about an "EA - Need For Speed Game" Perhaps, look at the game like GRID from Codemasters or did you criticise that as well for non realistic handling? If you want realistic handling then stick to the great PC games out already.

The games fast, fun, exciting and yes its got difficult AI rather than AI thats 4 seconds behind after the first lap.
Sure its not perfect but man are you so stuck on just putting it down or what?

Im glad to see more getting into the game and beginning to enjoy it more, even with its flaws/bugs.
EA deserve credit for going in this direction with the series.

I have no problem with it not being realistic, I enjoy a good arcade game as much as the next man. I enjoyed Grid and that certainly doesn't have realistic handling. But Shift doesn't know what it is, and it's difficult to get to grips with for no reason other than a flawed physics engine and bad control settings out of the box.

No, I'm not 'stuck on putting it down', but this is a Shift discussion thread is it not?

I disagree that the game 'doesnt know what it is'. In my opinion, i think shift is a good game. Controls/Realism aside (although notibly important), i always get bored with the monotony of games like Forza. Sure its a great game, but it just bores me.
Shift, on the other hand, is a good mixture of arcadey and serious, which is enough to keep a casual player like me interested for a decent period of time.

I also really like how the game is finished. The menus for example look really nice, and for some reason i like the addition of the voice-over fella telling you everything thats going on.

Ah so you actually like some things about the game, coming round then from your previous comment "Horrible Game"
Guess thats a start but think I have a harder job trying to convince "Nismo" ... ;)

What version and method of control are you using PC/G25??
Out of curiosity what settings do you play with?

I still think it's horrible at times. When the psycho AI takes me out or my car behaves in a strange and totally unpredictable way I feel like throwing my controller through the TV screen. But I have suck with it as I'm using it to get my track-racing fix until FM3 come along.

I'm playing the 360 version with a pad. I did try the PC version with my wheel (DFP) and honestly didn't find it much better, even after tweaking the controls.

Has anyone got to the final races yet??? Am I doing something very wrong or are they nearly impossible to win... i even turned the AI to easy and all assists on and couldnt win every race... that cant be right (im sure im not that bad).

The difficulty is so up and down in this game and theres nothing more frustrating than to be trying to overtake someone safely only to have the AI ram you up the backside!!!

Now i've finished it its going to have to be sold, a shame because i almost started enjoying it.

The veyron 16.4 is very tricky to handle. I was wondering if a wheel would actually be a worthwhile purchase for me...

How do you all use them, do you clamp it to a table or something, as I sit on my sofa armchair to play PS3, a wheel on my lap could be tricky?

I've not got a table in my living room high enough... My coffee table is quite expensive, and quite low down:D

So I went out and bought the game finaly. On tier 3 now using RS Cosworth, I think it sounds amazing :D. They got the turbo sound just right. Only thing I can't get to grips with is drifting I just don't know how to enter a corner for a drift.
