Need For Speed Shift

Hmm, undecided if to trade in Dirt 2 for this.. Can't really get on with Dirt 2, just doesn't excite me but I think Shift will. It seems to be getting pretty good reviews though.

1 Day to go, due to the lack of decent racers on the 360, I will be buying this tomorrow night :D

Bored of grid (completed twice on the pc so can't be bothered to finish it again on the 360), not a fan of dirt 2 after playing it at a mates, was far to arcadey.

But this looks great :D

Just had my LE PS3 version turn up and its rather good. Drives at a nice frame rate, handles not bad with the pad (need to get my G25 plugged in) and is very pretty.

God even with the game installed on my HDD load times are still shocking.

Graphics are very nice and the handling can seem a little awkward to start with but you soon get use to it. There isn't much depth to carrer mode but the races are made enjoyable by the decent A.I( even though they ram you off after beeing in front nearly all the race :p) It won't take you long to get to straight to the main tier and finish off the main game but there are still plenty of races left over if you wish to go back to them.

I played it on PS3 a few nights ago and really quite enjoyed it, gutted I had to send it on to someone else to review. Too much on myself at the moment to buy it though, will no doubt pick it up cheap in the Jan sales when the new game rush is over and I'll have more time to play it.

So are you a games reviewer or run a website about games or something? Just your comment about sending it on.. Wondering if you're a writer about games etc... :)

thinking about picking this up, as I do like decent racing games.... When I had a Xbox360, I did miss PGR once I sold it.

Yup :) I'm the reviews editor for Goon!ne (so I'm the guy who contacts publishers and PR companies looking for review code), as well as a staff writer for GamesAreEvil, The Portable Gamer, and XboxGameZone :)

Hey cool... Site reminds me a little of voodoo extreme, games /hardware site from years ago..... Now well gone, or sucked into IGN etc....

I like simple easy to read sites that list content like this, IGN got too big and too confusing and unless someone links a review to IGN I don't read it anymore...

My dear old mom has just got me a copy of this game from tesco, as she works there, so I get it for a rather good price. Staff discount on my games, DVD's etc comes in handy.. i'll let you all know what I think once I have it installed and played with it a little..

I might have to get this at the weekend. the last few they have done have been...welll...naff really! Hopefully this is different

Whats career mode like, more like underground?

I played it a few hours ago in HMV, and I dont know if its because iv been playing Dirt 2 non stop for the last week, but it seemed far too easy!

It was a M3 I was racing, and I found it almost impossible to spin, even when I tried. If you put the power on too early coming out of a corner, it felt a bit like the old arcade racing games, where the back end would step out a bit then it would automatically counter and straighten it up. The game even braked for you going into hard corners! I was almost fighting the controller to race the way I usually race.

Again, It may be just because Im used to the handling of Dirt 2 at the momeent, but I was impressed. Seems to have lost all that was good about the NFS in the first place!

Had a couple of hours on this last night and hooked the G25 up. Plays really nice the driving model is pretty good and its very pretty. Seems like a fun racer overall. Not as heavy as the likes of GTR on the PC but still very enjoyable.

Played it for an 2 hours or so now, very fun game but not too challenging as of yet.

Track selection seems very good so far, nice variety of cars and opportunities to race them.

The handling can seem a bit arcadey sometimes but I expected that, but with handling modifications it seems they make a positive difference.

Good stuff so far :D

EDIT: Ok, one highly annoying thing is if you view your replay (pressing it by accident like me) you have to watch it all you cannot skip or cancel it!

EDIT2: Apparently this is a bug in the game, I had to go back to dashboard, bit dodgy...

first impressions are quite good, it seems fun although very easy on medium so might have to knock it up to hard but there doesnt appear to be any rewards for choosing harder difficulties or turning off driving aids which seems abit bonkers to me...

Yeah the review I was reading mentioned that it didn't give any extra rewards for being on a harder difficulty setting. I agree, it is silly.
