Need for Speed Time Trial Championship ** Season 2 ** (Multiplatform)

shall get a time on the board

<snip>

sorry bout the pic, only get a second to snap one.

Easier way of taking pics utajoker.
When you complete your final lap wait for the game to update your profile points etc (you can skip obviously). Select Leaderboard (right shouder button x360 pad) from the options available. This shows your best legal lap time for the session you just completed while playing a replay in the background. The Leaderboard overlay toggles between driver name & car about every 10 secs. So instead of 1 sec & one opportunity to take your pic, you've 10 secs & infinite opportunity. Try and get a clear shot of the car as best you can.
inam may be able too help further as he used to have this issue.

Saying all that don't worry about it too much. It's so much easier for us PC users to take snapshots

Thank you for taking the time to instruct on those 9 bends nikaz, much appreciated & very helpful indeed. I'll try your settings too. I'll lower my tyre pressures as I had increased them.

I think I have 18" rims which I presume are better for grip than 15" but is there any tradeoff?

Now here is someone who thinks about the small things. Good stuff Merlin.
Wheel or tyre diameter has an effect yes. Now we can't change the absolute diameter of the tyre, that's fixed. However, we can change the rim diameter. Smaller diameter rims mean larger side walls on the tyre. Larger side walls have more give/cushioning, a slightly softer suspension if you will. Narrow walls have a lot less give in them producing a harder ride but more responsiveness.
So a bumpy/rough track could benefit from smaller rim sizes, adversely smooth/less undulating tracks benefit from larger rim sizes.

F1 cars have very little suspension movement (stiff) but have considerably large side wall tyres to absorb bumps.

Low profile tyres look better though don't they.

You may gain a tenth or two (it's hard to tell really) by considering the above.

Full session In-Car view vid. 1:22.340

I've recorded the vid using In-Car view to give you an idea of the amount of steering input required to keep this car in check. You should still be able to see/get an idea of my braking points.

Video quality will improve once processing is complete.

That's unbelievable driving nikaz. I'm convinced you're the stig.

I don't know how you guys achieve so much speed and still control the car. On the fastest straight I can only achieve about 123mph before having to brake. I could try taking traction and stability off but I know it'll be disaster.

Thanks. I assure you I'm not the stig. I don't look good in white.

Practice, practice, practice & oh yeah nearly forgot, more practise.

Try a corner at a time. Don't worry about going off, it's all about finding the limits. I go off all the time finding the limits.
T-1 - Brake late. Seriously you can brake really late. Take a higher line left of the guide line on approach. About two to three car lengths in the red zone, brake hard, turn in hard taking a late apex & floor it.
Remember, if you're going too slowly you're not generating sufficient aero downforce to maximise corner speed. This could be the route of your corner speed issues.

Go practise T-1. if you crash restart. Repeat until you make it. Once you make it round with good speed you'll have a better feel for what the car is capable of. Then move on to T-2 etc. As you improve at each corner, you're constantly getting a better feel for the car so you'll need less & less practise on subsequent corners.

Thanks Nikaz for posting your settings asusual and explaing everything in depth.

No worries. My pleasure.

I'm working on a tuning guide. The hardest part is trying to explain the effect one change in settings has on another.
e.g. On default Ride height your car doesn't bottom out. Add more downforce, lower tyre pressures & you'll start bottoming out. So what do you do? Raise the ride height of course. Well you'd think so, but actually you could stiffen the suspension, or a combo of both. It's things like that.

Will practise all that, thanks. However, I really am not able to achieve anywhere near the 150 mph on the straight you're getting, yet I have pretty much all your settings and I've installed all upgrades which were stage 3, aerodynamics and race parts, there was no stage 1 and 2 available. For instance, coming out of T-4, I'm at approx the same speed as you then have my foot to the floor and it's not getting up beyond the late 120's. I tested on another track that has a pretty long straight and after about 126mph, it creeps up 1 mph very slowly but never redlined in fifth gear, and even in 6th it didn't get up much beyond that before I ran out of track. Is my car broken?

Interesting. Have you got the latest patch 1.2?

Edit: Are you using auto gears? Edit 2: Scrap that. It's nothing to do with auto gears.

chronic, yep, I'm pretty sure my wheel is well calibrated, I believe it's done automatically.

Nikaz, you're a genius, that patch fixed it! :)
I'm only off the road because I took the screenshot.

Car handling and performance should be somewhat improved too apparently.

Unpatched the Porsche plus a few other cars experienced chronic bouncing problems which certainly hindered performance & handling.

Glad it's sorted mate.

This is so hard. Dunno if I'll get better than this, though my driving is slowly starting to improve.
<snip>

That's the main thing Merlin, even small improvements are going in the right direction, indicating you're driving, knowledge of the track is getting better.

It's Thursday evening with a couple of days of Season 2 Week 8 to run.

I'm posting earlier than usual to give those who may be working Saturday, ample opportunity to make a nomination.

At the time of posting the current standings dictate that;

01. utajoker
02. grs_link
03. Nem

get to submit nominations (Car & Track) for Week 9.

You may submit you're nominations via email to:

[email protected]

or if you prefer, you may post your nominations between 5pm & 6pm in this very thread Saturday afternoon.

Very true indeed. :)

What do you make of this nikaz. The game doesn't save values where the slider is pushed fully to the right. It takes them down one notch to the left. Weird, this only happens to the fully right settings. These are the ones fully to the right:

Springs and Dampers

Front & Rear Damper Slow Bump 6,300 (reverts to 6000)
Front & Rear Damper Fast Bump 3,700 (reverts to 3500)
Front & Rear Damper Slow Rebound 10,800 & 12,800 (reverts to 10,500 & 12,500)
Front & Rear Damper Fast Rebound 7,800 & 8,800 (reverts to 7,500 & 8,500)

Differential

Limited Slip Acceleration Lock reverts from 100 to 95
Limited Slip Preload reverts from 110 to 100

Gearing

1st Gear Ratio reverts from 2.83 to 2.88
2nd Gear Ratio from 1.92 to 1.96

Aerodynamics

Front & Rear Downforce revert from 18 to 17.

I'm fully patched with 1.02.
This is/was an issue prepatch.
Right click the 'Shift.exe' select properties and see what file version is stated. It should be 1.02. Anything else (1.00 or 1.01) means the patch wasn't fully installed correctly.
