I struggle to find a reason why I'd want to go back to a bland city at night setting and all that "Yo, dude! Dat waz an awesome drift!" bullcrap. Feels like a step backwards, especially after experiencing the beautiful maps in Hot Pursuit and Rivals.
NFS will never go back to its true roots because most people seem to find more appeal in modifying a Honda S2000 in an old garage than in blasting through exotic landscapes in a Pagani Huayra.
Besides, if the game's going to be full of EA's social malware then I'll definitely pass. I still remember Rivals and its ingenious concept of not having an active pause button.

But we got other games for that, Project CARS, Forza Horizon, I'm sure others will come along
