Need For Speed......

No thanks EA  This looks identical graphically to:

NFS The Rivals
NFS The Run
NFS Most Wanted (Criterion)

Which means same old forced EA social gaming junk I do not care for in anyway. Last 2 NFS games on PC you could not even disable Vibration on the gamepad (without mods) and also had some strange design choices like unable to save unless you were in garages etc etc all console friendly choices obviously they should just abandon this series its been stale for years now :(

This uses Frostbite though so it won't look like those.

Ah yes, it did. I never played that though, the other two definitely didn't use it.

I think it looks great though, the night time and the street lights etc.. I'll pick it up cheap more than likely.

I played it for a bit and quite liked it, apart from that ridiculous always online (no pause button) and framerate-tied physics engine:mad:

This new one does look very good graphically but from what I've heard it has a couple of annoying problems and I don't really like the atmosphere/night racing only (and another carbon copy of LA as a map? Seriously? I'm starting to get sick of this city) so I might do the same and grab it when it gets cheap. The tuning looks nice, though.

I enjoyed underground but the need for speed games lost heart after NFS 2 SE.

There was something great about the in game and menu music, intro, car stats and videos thats made the game what it was. The gameplay was also fast which sort of seemed to decline after this one. A true classic

Wholeheartedly agree. IMO, the only thing this series needed was updated graphics/handling, a wide selection of beautiful cars and tracks and an atmospheric soundtrack by Rom Di Prisco. EA have shot themselves in the foot countless times by trying to innovate a nearly perfect franchise and catering to a wider audience. Seems they've long reached a point of no return and are afraid to go back to the roots because they're afraid a game in the spirit of old NFS won't sell. I bet my arse it would. Just like Codies thought there would be no interest in Dirt Rally;p

As far as I'm concerned, Need for speed ended with High Stakes (even though the new Hot Hursuit was enjoyable). Underground was too far removed from what NFS stood for and should have been made a separate franchise.

I'm still looking forward to this, just hope its not a disappointment with the always online crap and rubber banding.

I'm sorry but why on earth are they selling the trailer on things like 4k and unlocked framerate?

That's standard for PC games? Not something you sell your game on. As a result, I'm 100% avoiding. To be proud of the basics is not a good sign.

I have been trying to think of "why" they would be advertising basics like this, and the only thing I can think of is to try and reduce the worry that Batman AK caused with their locked FPS and horrible performance.

But tbh, if that was their plan, it just looks stupid.

What I do like about what they did with this game, is ensure it wasn't a straight console port, they are spending time doing it for PC which is awesome.

I will still buy it anyway.

They did it because they were originally planning to release the game as a straight console port with a 30fps cap but there's been an uproar ( and rightfully so) and the release's been pushed back for PC. Now they can flaunt 60 fps as a feature in trailers:rolleyes:

Ah, it all makes sense now.

Oh dear :/
