Need to vent, just lost £2600

3/1 says it was four of a kind followed by a straight flush. :p
Haha, best post in the thread!

Shows you dont know what your talking about.... Texas Holdem isnt played against the house?!
Loads of people make profit playing cards. Every now and then I will watch the high stake tables on ladbrokes where the average pot is $600 and there is at least one hand every 5 minutes. So thats almost £3000 an hr (give or take on the exchange rate).
BUT the house takes a slice of the winnings - so what Moh said is right. Apart from people slyly abusing the free money that some places give you when you sign up, the house always wins. The average profit for a player at an online poker table will always be negative.

For every professional player that wins $600 on a single hand, there are other, just as professional, players losing the same amount. As someone else said earlier in the thread, it's quite rare that you see people boasting about how much they lost playing poker. ;)

Yeah, the odds are slightly against you. So what you do is use the bonus as a buffer zone, and when you lose all that then you pull out your original stake and move on.

You might not win most of the casinos, but you can become profitable by winning some of them and "not losing" at others :)

Girlfriend - What are you doing in that locked room for three hours in front of your computer?
Gambler - Err err, I'm just looking at my hardcore porn vids and pictures
Girlfriend - Its OK then

In Texas Holdem, the house never bets -> so it cant win or lose. Its paid for the services it provides. So he is still wrong. If the thread was about blackjack, then he would be right - but it isnt ;)
The worst thing is when people start grouping games like poker with stuff like roulette. Yes, both have luck involved in the outcome, but one has a lot of skill to increase your 'slice' of luck, where as the other is purely based on luck.

So very VERY wrong!

For every pro player that wins $600, there'll be two idiots losing $300 a piece who have more money than poker skillz.

The OP of this thread really doesn't know his poker, £2600 on a three of a kind...with a flush on the flop? And calls the river the flop? Oh my.

Surely the very fact that they're competing in a professional poker league means that they're good players? Have we got our wires crossed?

All I mean to say is that just as much money is lost playing poker as is won, but people seem to forget this - especially the thousands of new players signing up because they think they can make an easy buck playing online. I'm not denying that people make money playing poker, but there are even more people who lose money playing it.

I don't play in pro tournaments, because I've never even heard of a pro tournament. You either have the cash or you don't.

Of course, people lose money, and that's what defines the good from the not good. More money is lost than won, since the house take a cut. :p

lost 2600 on a single hand?

not bad, but not a major amount.
there are plenty of bigger wins/losses reported on pokerhand :]

still, if you didnt have the money to be playing that sort of stake then you wouldnt of been playing that level, tho tbh im quite suprised that you need to vent.
im sure you have won more than enough in multiple hands to cover that 1 bet.

i would only think you were silly if it was your full bank roll and you needed it for something else.
