Netflix's Movie "Cuties"

The world's love for Netflix isn't unconditional, Twitter users proved on Thursday when they asked to "cancel" the streaming platform. #CancelNetflix trended after the movie website premiered a new film called Cuties, which viewers are already slamming for looking similar to child pornography.

A list of Twitter users actually cancelled their Netflix subscriptions to send a message to the media giant. Netizens were quick to point out the apparent sexualization of children in the film Cuties and took immediate action to show their lack of support for Netflix.

The Cuties plot shows and 11-year-old who "starts to rebel against her conservative family's traditions when she becomes fascinated with a free-spirited dance crew," according to the Netflix description. But that dance crew apparently features some sexual routines, from twerking to partial nudity of underage girls.

I was absolutely disgusted when I saw this movie advertised on Netflix and after seeing the content, in my opinion it does constitute child pornography quite frankly. What the US law is on this I don't know but this is outrageous.

This is the next thing in coming years (look up PIE), you think to yourself that would be unbelievable and will never happen well go back a few years for transsexuals and a few more for homosexuality, now it is classed as "normal"

I do love some hysteria in the morning.

In case anyone is interested before they start frothing too hard, it's worth noting that Cuties has been rated by the BBFC as a 15.
Which given it's not even the highest rating for wide distribution (and anything remotely like child porn would not even get a rating, it would be banned if not outright illegal*), suggests that it's not "child porn". Although the fact it's on Netflix a major international company should have been a clue.

Also lumping child porn in with homosexuality and transexuality says far, far more about the person making the claim than it does about people who are LBGT.

*The BBFC is extremely strict on anything that hints at harm to children or their sexualisation, let alone if anything were to break the law in regards to images etc.

It's never surprising the amount of people with "progressive" opinions who thing that sexualising children is perfectly OK.

What do I mean by sexualising - adults filming an 11 year old flash her boob, several 10-11 year olds repeatedly grabbing their crotches and grinding/humping the floor etc - and those who say that it is perfectly OK for an 11 year olds boobs and bums to be filmed and distributed, must therefore also be OK with THEIR 11 year old daughters doing the same thing and being filmed by strangers, right? Or does this get a pass because it's a "film" rather than a strange man filming your daughter just over a webcam instead?

Because for me, there is no difference between this being a "film" and being a man recording a webcam of an 11 year old girl doing exactly the same thing in her bedroom - if people think the former is OK then they must think the latter is OK. Personally I find them both to be as bad as each other.

I saw this trending yesterday (#cancelnetflix) so I clicked on it wondering what it was, and saw a trailer and then had to bleach my eyes and low level format my hard drive. What are they thinking?

Also, what is interesting is the demographic of the people who are defending it. Those people who seem to have binary opinions on everything and follow their herd religiously.
