Netgear D7000 VDSL modem/router

Dunno about rubbing sharks sounds dangerous ;)

But yeah basically Running wireshark gets the required details from a sky connection...

and select which device you have for the full guide.

You'll also need to spoof the WAN mac, seems that Sky might be enforcing that now too. Some say they needed to, some not.

Long time since I did mine, but do you know if the password generator still works? Simpler for those who might find wireshark intimidating.

@ricke - I'm looking to order a D7000 and it will be used on PlusNet. What's the serial please of the test firmware you're using so I can ask Netgear to supply the same to do a PlusNet auto setup.

Thanks!

This graph shows the S/N over time for both the Billion and the Netgear D7000. You can clearly see the S/N varying with the Billion over time, but when using the Netgear it is only a downward trend. A power cycle returns the S/N to 6dB, but over time it drops to around 3dB.

The graph belows shows "holes" in the bits/tone graph around 600 and 1750 approx. This occurs after several days of uptime - these areas suffer from REIN at night. It would appear that these bins are permanently "disabled"

Below is the S/N graph per tone during the day - ie when there is no REIN noise. It clearly shows that there is enough S/N to enable the tones, however they remain disabled resulting in the reduced S/N.

Hope this makes sense.

After 7 days, this is what my S/N is !

Still waiting on an answer from Broadcom. Looks like i'm going to have to return this unit and go back to my trusty billion.

Any other changes apart from the IPTV fix?

1) The ability to turn the LED lights off/on via the UI
2) Increased channels on the 5ghz bit - but this is sketchy, I usually rename both channels the same and connect my ipad/iphone to 100/1 - but the 5ghz is pretty sketchy at the moment - reverted back to renaming them so they are different.

That are the main differences I can see - IPTV still works flawlessly (although I had to reboot the router once about 10 days ago as I was getting error messaged on the IPTV channels).

Rick.

That's bizarre. I would certainly be looking at a replacement unit at the very least.

I only get a SNR change really when it rains, like as shown here a few nights ago. Otherwise I get very little movement; the last change was me doing a reset.

So not really anything to get excited about then.;)

Nah mate - the new 5ghz channels are sketchy as in they keep returning back to the default channels. So I think there is more work that needs to be done. A new official f/w release was due at the end of August.

Just looked at the rest of your stats, no G.INP so ECI cab but as you say, the Billion is OK. I Really would want to try another D7000 before giving up on it.

The bits I am wating for are not likely to get sorted until next year anyway. At present it's behaving in every way so I have no complaints.
