so I went and bought a shiney new router with USB adaptor.
from OCUK:
Netgear DG834N 270Mbps ADSL2+ Modem/Router & WN121T Wireless Networking Bundle.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-130-NG&groupid=46&catid=116&subcat=143
got it into my lovely new (old) house. to save me running cables everywhere I thought this would be a good solution.
now. I setup the router using a temp cable.
but when I use the wireless adaptor I get a problem.
I connect the adaptor.
I scan for a network. it finds the network.
I click connect.
it asks for my password.
i enter said WPA+xxyz+zaabbcc encryprtion passkey (or whatever the security type is, silly names honsetly!!!)
it tries to connect.
then the network I could see dissapears. and it doesnt connect.
I tried using the windows xp built in wireless. didnt like it.
I tried using purely netgear software. didnt like it.
I tried disabling the onboard network port, so no interferrence. didnt work.
not sure what the problem is really. all works fine with a cable attached.
anyone got any ideas?
