Neverwinter Nights 2 Official Thread

Come on guys, if you have the game then post some screenshots in the maximum screenshot thread, especially if you're playing multiplayer :D

They tried to deliver mine yesterday, LG Edition, but couldn't pick it up from the depot until this morning. Now I have a huge box on my desk and all I can do is read the manual!!

I have ordered mine from a UK supplier and I live in Belgium (let you know in 2 weeks time what the game is like :p )

Apparently that's down to disk space on the C drive - it seems to need approx 6Gb free during the patch process.

No, it's not. I know because I've just successfully patched my copy with only about 1.8gb free on C.

You do, however, need to have a large amount of free space on the drive/partition you installed the game on for the patch to work successfully.

I played for about 3 hours last night in the starter area and boy does this game run horribly in relative to the graphics. The graphics look like something from a couple of years ago but with better lighting effects. The trees are just plain ugly and the textures look fairly low. I am really surprised by this, even though I was hearing some complaints at the official forum, I did expect it to look better. Hopefully the environments start looking better beyond the starter area.

Performance is awful and can only be improved by turning shadows to medium (which I have not done as the environments just become too bland) and turning reflection off on water. This results in the water not looking much like, say water.

The so called bloom effect looks like Vaseline smeared all over your monitor and when you turn it off you start noticing the poor textures.

I am not saying the game looks bad but it has nothing to warrant the 15 to 35 frame rate. There have been a lot of complaints about the camera but for me it has been fine so far. I can't comment on the game play as I have spent most of my time playing around with the settings.

Wow... there is a real mixed bag of opnions on this thread!

I should get my copy delivered if not today, then Saturday... so my thoughts will wait until then on this one.

Captain ParcelForce arrived outside my house, and apparently just popped the 'You weren't in' card through the door. Didn't even check to see if anyone was in.

OK - in just ten words.
Why would Parcelforce do this?
Exactly what do they gain by walking up to your door and placing a card through it (that has to be hand written) and not attempting to deliver the parcel?

They gain extra free time. It’s the I cannot be bothered to wait so lets make it some one else’s problem attitude.

They assume during certain parts of the day that no ones in so instead of waiting at the door for an answer they write a card and walk off its faster. Also if they regular go to a house at time x and its empty they assume its going be the same today even if you took the day off.

Its not parcel force to blame but the guy/girl doing the job. At my old house I had to put in a number of complaints as the postman was lazy and just put the your not inpaper though the door mostly not even fully filled in just a x as a sign. Then I had to drive into the city to get my parcel. That was a few years ago and its all been fine recently but I can see how others have the same problem.

I've had one knock once, not espcially loudly, then start writing the card immidiately before posting through the letter box and wondering back to the van. I had to shout out the window to stop them. I do sypathise to some extent that most daytime deliveries are going to be to empty houses, I expect patience is thin after doing this a few hundred times.

Sounds insane I know... I certainly don't have an explanation either but I can tell you that exactly that has happened to me before.

I was in my bedroom, heard a van stop near to my house so took a look out the window to confirm that it was a delivery van. Waited for the doorbell to ring as I wasn't sure whether it would be my delivery or someone elses. No ring came so I went about my business. Went downstairs about an hour later and there was a card waiting for me. I checked my doorbell and it was working fine.

Go figure!

This is why I get stuff delivered to work.

Have a shiny new LG box sitting on my desk now, this weekend is gonna be fun :D

Just picked mine up from local shop, just downloading the patch now.

82Mb patch on day of release heh!

I restarted NWN1 last week in anticipation and am thorough enjoying it again (playing a Monk this time) and not yet past chapter 1....shall I abandon or continue I wonder!?

I will comment on NWN2 when I have played for a couple of hours. Not going to have a chance to play this weekend though :(

Parcel force left the game with my neighbour last night so I shouldnt complain!

Im running at 1920 x 1200 with low shadows and everything else high (Opteron @ 3 Ghz, 1 Gig of RAM and an overclocked 6800 Ultra). Its 'reasonably' smooth..

I have however had problems trying to get the patch to apply. Im going to try clearing out my games partition before reinstalling and re-patching.

Despite the above I do quite like the game. Im sure once the niggles are sorted, and the persistant worlds start, it will be pretty cool.

god knows, but I caught a deliveryman doing it to me once. called up city link and complained to them, they said you must have been out, I said that I could SEE the door and had watched him get out of his van with the card and put it though our letterbox then drive off! (letterbox is on gate, next to doorbell, in plain view from my window).

makes me sick when people don't do their jobs

Parcel force and Royal Mail are by far the worse. I once had a special Parcel Force after hour’s late delivery and I managed to get home early and they had already filled out the card "sorry you were out" and had filled in a later time. They do this so they can get back home early.

Business Post are the best as they have some sort of system where they are rated rewarded for actual deliveries and penalized for non deliveries - something like that.
