Quoted "In fact there is one uk retailer with stock of the EVGA SCC 700/2000 8800GT but he wants £300 inc VAT per card "

That person/shop should be hung, the USA big store that sold out of all EVGA cards in 1st day had 4 models.

1) Vanilla
2) SC
3) KO
4) SSC

There was a $40 difference in price from #1 to #4.

They also got their nutz kicked by peeps in comments sections because they were selling the cards at $30 more than EVGA's own online store. (so much for EVGA being more expensive).

I think it is 1600hmz but I am at work. the Gts are only 1800 aint they? so not much more bandwidth imo. But yeah I guess if it aint bottlenecking but still it is proven to help at higher res. Hence why the GT cant beat the GTX at 1920 x 1200. I don't care about you 20" n00bs. :p

Your opinion doesn't count if you game in low res. (joke) :D

You must be joking right ? this is ripoff britain remember i see them trying to sell this at £300+.
This whole thing has been a disaster for everyone but nvidia, retailers must be so angry at the short supply by the time the GT gets back in stock who's going to pay £180+ for one ? not as many that would have 2 weeks ago that's for sure, especially if a card one and a half times quicker is imminent for release.

Been thinking hard about this, apart from crysis what actually needs more than an 8800gts ? is it worth spending more money just to be able to play one game a bit better.I don't think so after we have all bored of crysis we will go back to the quality gameplay games such as COD4 Cs source TF2 and so on which don't require the very latest cards to max out.

I really can't see these being cheaper than the 640mb GTS as they would never sell the old GTS's then. Around £250-300 i reckon especially if they have Ultra performance.

so should be priced around £200, going to be very interesting to see how much stronger it is than the GT.

the smug GT peeps might not be so happy in a few days if this card is faster than an ultra for not much more than a GT.

fascinating days ahead in the GPU world.

I highly doubt it, we seen with the gt we estimated around £150 but sold at £175, around £235+ is the price tag they might be going for, but then again if its out performing the ultra by a bit then they could bump it up to £260.

ive seen a club3d 8800gt 512mb for £140 but its out of stock. If thats the prices we can expect once stock is flowing i really wonder what price the GTS will be.

I will watch with interest.

I had every intention of selling my GT if the pricing of the new GTS was nice.

However I don't think theses cards will be 200

Well I am happy that I bought my 8800GT 2 weeks ago then.

Still nice to see, and if demand for the 8800GTs stays like this, then I can always sell mine on ebay and get the 8800GTS 112

Price 299 to 349 dollars

*converts to pounds, then adds the usual UK markup price

= 250-280 pounds?

the 8800GT is $250 in the US, and here its £180

Yeah they will be pricing them higher because of the GT (IMO.)

Also isn't the price of the GT more like $290

270 on the egg.

at launch they were 230-250$ in the us ( I read that on steam forums) and now they have gone up a bit because of the huge demand and small supply.

It is going to be cheap, were only paying a high premium price at the minute as they aint anywhere to be found, and when they do arrive in stock at places, they only arrive in very small quantities. i.e 1 or 2 cards, now that stocks are going to start flowing in the next few days the prices will fall.

$299-349 should come in at around £200 I would have thought for the cheapy models.
If it really does offer 8800u beating performance at that price then I might be tempted.

Of course, it's hard to understand why NV would actually bring it out that cheap. £250-300 would seem more logical, putting it above the current 640meg model.
