unless the gtx is the same price as the gts, i just cant see it :)

8800GTX still has the performance advantage so it wouldn't really make sense for them to sell them at the same price, the current low price here is probably due them securing a large stock for a good price or more likely just surplus stock they want to shift.

O.T: James, how long have you had your 8800GTX and what card did you upgrade from?

i bought mine in January for £399. before that, i had an x800gto2. however, i sold that well before i bought the gtx and survived with an x300 (onboard as well) for around 6 months i think it was. i actually had the 2nd highest overclocked x300 in the world lol. on air too . i cant get futuremark compare working atm, otherwise id show you lol

Now that's magic, ;)

edit:  to have such power. marvelous lol. and search and compare still isnt working lol

Well somehow I managed to get some information from this thread, big thanks to fornowagain for *contributing* so much, I do have problems with the technical side of things so the charts/benchmarks and pre-production pictures have been most appreciated

Its looking likely GTS is going to be 'around' £210 retail.

Also its not exactly easy to gove a direct comparison between GTX and new GTS as they did not do a direct back2back test, but if you look at the Prey 1600x1200 results on these pages:
GTX @ 112FPS (http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1129/8/page_8_benchmarks_prey/index.html)
GTS @ 155FPS (http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1244/7/page_7_benchmarks_prey/index.html)
GT @ 143FPS (http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1210/7/page_7_benchmarks_prey/index.html)

Please understand that these are not directly comparable, but should give some indication of where the performance will sit if you can allow for hardware differences.

Maybe if you can't exstrapolate some result from benchmarks of previous hardware.

Some might.

You can keep your rolleyes. Those benchmarks are run on different systems, drivers and they may even use a different time demo. They show the GT clearly outclassing the GTX, which simply doesn't happen. I wasn't having a go, I was simply saying the results from each benchmark with similar cards are totally different.

No thats because you have done what I said not to do.

the base line would be the ATI card on both - although your going to have to do some digging to link the % values I suppose.
