New AMD 300 series chiphell benchies

Sounds about right. Sadly the days of double performance for each new GPU generation are behind us (4870 to 5870 was epic!), so the new AMD card will be slower than the 295X2, but hopefully noticeably faster than a single 290X.

As others have said, looks promising but I'm still taking a large amount of salt with this one.

Never mind that, 3870 to 4870 was absurd. 320 to 800 shaders and the introduction of GDDR5. Thems were the days.

Nice jump in performance if it turns out to be true :)
I will be trying to avoidbuying anycards with 4gb or less vram though as i hope to buy and then sit out for a year or two this time

Am more interested in how they got this new 300series card that draws 7 watts more then there 290x to run over 20c cooler....

These charts are saying
290x draws 288watts and runs at 94c
300series draws 295watts and runs at 73c

Water cooled reference cooler, has this happened before?

I've got my first ever card with a reference cooler on its way, its a 290X and I'm really interested to see how it affects case and CPU temps as my CPU is an 8350 which intakes from above the GPU and out the top, if the GPU exhausts out the back I'm hoping that even though the card runs hotter than my current 970 that the heat generated within the case itself will be much less and give me more CPU overclocking head room?

If so then reference more efficient reference coolers are interesting, or am I talking absolute rubbish? I've tested this with CPU stress tests, much lower CPU temp than when gaming

The rumours about it having a water cooled reference model as standard could be true looking at these temps, if it is could you imagine temps with a standard reference blower! It wouldn't be possible

And my overclocked 295X2 draws what ever it needs, but is cool and quiet at 62C tops :D with the stock cooler....
