New AMD 300 series chiphell benchies

IF this is true then wow, power efficiency is all good and well but don't we all just want a big jump in performance? be it Nvidia or AMD

A super powerful single card would be nice as it would avoid the issues with multi gpu like micro stuttering, but the best we are getting is not enough to max games at 1440p, usually a mixture of med/high settings if talking about good frame rates. 1080p pretty much a given to max out games now.

Only way we will get huge boosts at higher resolutions is going multi gpu, but nothing is being done to completely eliminate micro stuttering. Such a shame really because the performance is there but it introduces that issue. It's as if Gsync and Freesync came along to ease the lower fps we get with single cards, rather than try to solve the multi gpu problem.

True, but the Nvidia reference 970/980's offer better/more efficient cooling than AMD's 290x reference design.

A fact which Nvidia is all too keen to reflect in the price ;)

(which is partly justified, the Titan cooler is lovely).

I'm looking forward to this card. I don't believe any of these rumours until it's actually proven on multiple sites, but if this is true, it'll be a nice upgrade from my 290.

So it's 35% to 40% faster than the GTX 980 :)

If it is and it comes in at around the same price as the 980 then Nvidia need to release something ASAP that beats this card and can match it's price otherwise I can see Nvidia losing market share quickly as I can't imagine anyone sane wanting to buy a 980 when they can get 30-40% more performance for the same money.

But it's Nvidia I'm sure they'll bring out GM200, Charge the earth for it for the same performance as the AMD part and some saps will buy it, Same story every gen, Then they'll bring out the Black Edition and another month later the Ti Edition, Then the Ti Boost Edition etc....

But...but power efficiency splutter lolz. But...but heat dissipation lol AMD running at 40000deg C etc etc

Hopefully the new stuff will put AMD back on a firmer footing. It's getting pretty boring hearing gaming enthusiasts harp on about power draw. Let's see if a 30-50pc performance boost in games changes their minds.

i dont know why but 380x crossfire has my attention and surley amd must relise people are gagging for gpu's with more than 4gb memory

Almost certainly, the concern is if they were already too far down the road with design and production to be able to do anything about it.

Going 4gb+ is a relatively new demand, eg, look how long it took for the 970 issue to come to light.

No doubt AMD will have 6/8gb somewhere, maybe not the first releases of the 3 series.

Load temps vs Load Power don't seem to stack for me, that's a huge buck against the trend. Would like the power side of it to be incorrect!

It's AIO watercooled. There have been numerous sources saying this for some time. I have an OC'd 290X with an AIO watercooler ghetto mounted on it and temps never go above 61C.

Am more interested in how they got this new 300series card that draws 7 watts more then there 290x to run over 20c cooler....

These charts are saying
290x draws 288watts and runs at 94c
300series draws 295watts and runs at 73c

Because it will be all-in-one water cooled. No way it is getting those temps with that perf and that power draw on air.

If that is true (AIO water cooling) it'll be interesting to see how you get more than 2 in a case for crossfire.

They would have to have a radiator each and they take up a lot of room in a case...
