New and shocking footage of British troops torturing Iraqis...

1967 years. Wel, that's how long it took a christian country to come to its senses.

The law in this country has been evolving for centuries and will continue to do so. The point is that Islamic law cannot evolve as the word of the Quaran is immutable

btw, the country didn't only start existence in the year zero :p (or one I should say, as there was no year zero)

That's what christians say about the bible. My point is that it has taken a heck of a long time for church and state to separate enough for laws which could be seen as going against biblical teachings to be accepted by the masses.

No...but christianity did. Well not really but near enough.

That's probably because as time has gone on, the country has evolved and more and more people realise what nonsense religion is :) Although that trend is in danger of stalling or reversing as the Muslim population continues its rise.

ANd the same will probably happen in the middle east given time.

'probably' covers a multitude of possiability - there is no reason to think that Islamic society will change, merely because Christian society has - and there is no reason to think that it would neccessarily be for the better either - ala the Chinese secular revolution which was a mixed bag - especially for tibet

Nice to know that they can effect arrests really quickly when they want to.
Still waiting for a sensible number of arrests from the "behead all who insult islam" mob.
Wait, what's that, no arrests barring a suicide bomber wannabe who was out on bail following spending time insdie for drug dealing ..... hmmm

Still I guess we've forgotten all about that now that this video has surfaced after 2 years of hiding.

Who do you think is responsible for releasing the video? I agree that the timing is rather suspect :) We're all talking about this now rather than the 'cartoons'. It could merely be a coincidence but it would seem quite a big one.

Seen Cox and Forkum?

Excellent cartoon there.

It seems we have to be sensible in expressing free speech now that our Muslim brothers are offended, yet they have free speech even if they promise death... I say reprint the cartoons.

The Duke of Wellington once told a journalist to "Publish and Be Damnned" yet it is exactly that act that would now rescue our conscience

Is that supposed to be a serious post?
Are you seriously suggesting that muslims are above the law because of potential bad PR?

I don't know, it takes the pressure and focus away from islamic extremists marching around London calling for more suicide attacks. That takes pressure off the police, off the Govt and off the MCB.
Such fortuitous timing.

Why have none of those marchers been arrested yet ?

Yeah cos protesters with banners are really scary and beat people up ... wait ... hang on: There was no violence at that legal march. Yep Squaddies beating up random Iraqi's (sp) = Peaceful protesters, with their oh so scary placards, marching in a legal demo.

Right so Omar Khayam was a MI5 sleeper agent used to discredit muslim extremists.

No we've forgotten about it cos its an irrelevant piece of fluff only scary to worrywarts like you.

So the NOTW is part of of an islamofacist conspiracy?

They could be being used by someone else who wanted the video released now, to divert attention from elsewhere, who knows. (Have the government done anything while we've been looking the other way, for example.. a good day to bury bad news and all that)

I'm not saying there *is* a reason that the video was released just now, just that there might be. Who might have wanted it released now, and why, I couldn't say.
