Astras have always been middle of the market. Whether this will be better or not, time will tell.

I used to drive them for my previous job, the newer diesel 1.7 and an older petrol 1.6. Both weren't that great. I think the older petrol was better in some ways, even though it was knackered at least it seemed a bit more connected to the road. The new diesel was gutless and too light. Both looked exactly the same on the inside, but then it was more function over form really.

This thread is lacking in exterior pictures.

This looks like a REALLY bad Kia!

It is a bit ce'edy

Vauxhall only have a range of 100% non ugly cars because they're afraid to offend. Remember when the 156 came out, and the current style of BMWs when they 1st came into being? Yet most of us liked them after a few years.

The 146 looks hideous at the front in some colours, particularly with the non sporty bumpers and grill.

Something I always notice with Vauxhall and has intrigued me for a while is the cars always have a line down the bonnet and bumper, just like in the picture above, is this just to do with the manufacture of the cars? Just random question I know :p

Not all vauxhalls do. My Astra doesn't has a line at the sides and my dads Omega doesn't. Nor do Mk3 astras.

Sorry I mean the newer models, like the current Astra, Vectra, Zafira etc, yeah the older models don’t that’s why I am intrigued as to why :p

I don't think this is neccesarily true. I'm usually prepared to give Vauxhall the benefit of the doubt. You'll notice I've not really made many judgements on the Insignia yet. I'm not slating it, infact I actually think its a very promising car. If I was a rabid, deluded anti Vauxhall person surely I'd be slating it?

There's still time :)

This is probably not true.

No, I think you're right. I should have said that most of the people who **** Vauxhalls off do so because it's a cool thing to do on OcUK. There are far worse manufacturers that slip under the radar.

This probably is - but if you get the fundamentals right on a car even the base models feel right. Extra buttons, switches and low quality leather of a range topper won't fix the fundamentals if they are lacking.

Wont argue there. They could do better but then again, going back to my previous point. So could a fair few other manufactures.

I think you are very wrong there. It's common knowledge what most of the anti Vauxhall crowd drive and none of them are exactly sheds.

Which proves my point about those people thinking Vauxhalls are beneath them and not an objective view from an unbiased person.

Don't hold your breath. If it's decent you wont hear me slagging it off. If its crap, you will.

Excellent. They way it should be :)

Its pure design, I guess the bonnet would look pretty darn plain if it was just curved a bit. May have some aerodynamic properties but i doubt it.

What utter crap. Talk about writing it off because of the badge. I'm not a big fan of Vauxhall but you've not driven it, heck not even seen a good image of it and you're already writing it off.

Maybe he thinks that because the Mk3, Mk4 and Mk5 Astra were all below par Vauxhall might follow past trends.

If, every time I come round your house, I trash the place, would you not be a little more wary the 4th time I knocked the door? :p
