Fair comments, but I can't help but feel sitting in traffic and doing my commute where I'm stuck doing 40-50mph an S6 isn't going to be any better than a cheaper and more recent platform.

Trying to see if my brother has any new A5s he can check the boot.

I think I've narrowed it down to these 2.

TIGUAN NF R-LINE 2.0 TSI 180 PS BMT 4Motion DSG 7 speed DSG £175pm
Colour 1 - Habanero Orange
Colour 2 - Caribbean Blue

Colour 2 - Moon White Metallic

Comes down to my main requirements really.
1. Practical for the family.
2. Has a bit of poke
3. Is comfortable to drive.
4. Below £200pm

Now I need to decide which is first choice.

My brother advised against the 4motion as it's heavy and sucks the fuel efficiency. The 2wd 150ps would be better.

A4 is booked in for collection on the 18th, pretty excited to swap over from the Golf.

Final choices have been sent for the next car.

1st Choice
TIGUAN NF R-LINE 2.0 TSI 180 PS BMT 4Motion DSG 7 speed DSG £175pm
Colour 1 - Pure White
Colour 2 - Indium Grey

2nd Choice
Superb SE L Executive Estate 2.0 TSI 220PS DSG £147pm
Colour 1 - Quartz Grey Metallic
Colour 2 - Moon White Metallic

I know I'm far too sensible.

But seriously sitting in traffic and stuck doing 50mph for 80% of my commute makes no different how exciting or powerful my car is. Practicality will genuinely make life easier with kid stuff taking up so much space.

Even if I had requested the S4, allocations are so low it's not gonna happen.

New Tiguan does look really nice. I enjoy trying the latest from VAG.

So is this scheme only available to family of the employees of Audi/VW etc?

If so that's a shame for me. The Mrs best mates fella is the manager at a local Audi dealership nearby. Wouldn't have minded tapping him up for a cheap momo!

Yes. It also comes out of the employees pay directly. They are essentially liable.

Golf got a clean bill, so nothing extra to pay.

Now grinning with my replacement :D

1st and 2nd choice denied! Bummer. Popular choices I imagine within the individual brands.

The 3rd choice list was pretty poor, but one car looks like it will do the job. Now in the process of waiting confirmation on a Seat Leon ST (estate) 1.8 TSI DSG. It's the same engine I had in my green Leon which I liked.

Update - they may no longer have any Leon STs available. Which leaves me with only 1 suitable choice - a Seat Alhambra. Not what I would pick since I don't need 7 seats, but should be massively practical.

Since most of my driving is a bi-weekly commute to Slough in rush hour, it honestly doesn't matter about the size of the car. It'll serve it's purpose just fine. With the added benefit of being able to fit a wardrobe in the back on the weekend if needed :D

I think the list must be changing by the minute. Just got off the phone and now we are trying to secure a Skoda Yeti 2.0 150ps TDI DSG L&K 4x4.

u guys...
The request has gone in now for the Yeti, let's see. It's a cheap tool at the end of the day.

Like I said Syla5, the scheme is so damn good VFM. If it wasn't I'd probably go out and buy a Golf Edition 30.

I doubt I could get access to those cars even if they did appear on my list. From what I understand employees get first dibs - more senior you are the more likely you are to get a choice. Then it goes to us non-employees (peasants) to pick over the scraps.

Car now confirmed. RIP.
